Yup, the old dry food kicked in and hence the BG results. Since she eats that food mostly at night, I think I need to wake up every two hours and feed her wet food, so her tummy will not feel the need to eat much of the dry food. Thankfully. during day she is mostly sleeping, so maybe she will eat less of that. :( Also, I put all food up 3 hours before the shot and not 2 because I really need her to get hungry for the wet food at her 6 am shot.
The lip is a little better, still swollen but my husband says it is not as big as it was yesterday morning. I guess it takes a while for it to go down.
Tonight we increase the dose.

Laura, it looks like you saw some nice greens last night - in that case I'd hold this dose for another day or two - until you have 6 cycles without hitting a green...she's in a bounce right now - perhaps give her a chance to clear that bounce - let's see if she settles back down soon but if not, be ready for that increase.

She saw the GREENS because she was on the new dry food that is less than 5% carbs. But since I cannot rule out some allergy, I made the 40% carb dry food available and of course she went for it. Sometimes I think she is doing it on purpose. Not sure if we can call it bounce since she was munching on that really HC dry food, but sure I can wait for a day or two on the same dose.
It would be nice if it is just a bounce :) I look forward to her Botox lip to go away. :)

I think because you're using the Alpha Trak that you don't have a lot of room to play with - so play it safe - hold on the increase and let's see how it all pans out. It would be wonderful if you can juggle the food enough to help her hit those lower numbers without increasing the insulin - but I know you've got a real challenger on your hands there - just want to be safe. Poor little girl - she can't help it ... I hope her puffy lip decreases soon - in the meantime she's in vogue - seems like the TV stars think that big poufy lip is a good thing...

@Sue and Luci, I wanted to put more of her dry food in the bowl so she will not get obsessed into eating for the fear of running out. She came quickly to see what I am doing there, got between my feet and put her Botox lip in the bowl to check, took a few kibbles, spread the others and then went away. I am telling you, I am on constant monitoring. Even her attitude changed since she has her old food back. She is friendly, rubbing against our legs, trying to catch the feet, rubbing her head against the laptop. Everything is peachy until you get close to her bowl. When you do that, she comes to verify you are not doing anything 'illegal' by her standards. I tried to give her some pieces of the healthy dry food and at first she did not want them, but after seeing me put more of the bad dry food in her bowl, she came back to eat those good ones. Who can understand what is in the mind of a cat?:cat::banghead::p

I'm glad Chanel's lip seems better this morning. Did you give any Zyrtec? I hope she slides down today.
@carfurby Gave her 1/4 last night and another 1/4 this morning. Her lip also does not look red, or at least not bright red like yesterday. It is a dark red and brown. As for sliding, unless she takes on skiing, no chance on sliding on that really really bad dry food. But I still go home at lunch to feed her the wet food, maybe that will keep her full for a while.:)

still working on those lab values. Last night Chanel took over the laptop, cuddling with it. And I was on a hunt for the alleged spider/bug, but not able to find it until now. Maybe it went to the neighbors or went away for the weekend. :)

Just came back from home. She ate 50 g of Fancy Feast and she was so relaxed that she let me get her belly up and tickle her :). I guess that food makes her happy. I had a quick look at that lip, for me it looks just the same, just lost its red color, it is more like yellow-white-ish, it might be smaller too but I do not see it. We will see in the next days.
She granted me a favor and ate a few pieces of the healthy dry food, but I had to beg like 4 times :banghead:. I guess it is a process and she wants me to walk the walk :arghh:

You're such a great Mama, Laura!! Chanel sounds very pampered but she deserves every bit of it!!
I hope the swelling goes down soon, poor little sweetie. :bighug:
Hope the spider/bug packed his bags and went elsewhere!!
Have a wonderful day!! :)

@Sonia & Leo, thank you Sonia! Fortunately, her mood is really improved and back to her old self. I washed her blankets yesterday evening and she wanted to go in the closet but came back because her blankie was not there. She is spoiled rotten, but that does not mean that I do not dream of her coming back to the BLUES and GREENS. Just trying to make it work with her desires and my goals...it might take a longer time, but maybe it will be a better choice in the long run...no tummy issues, no lethargy or depression, maybe we can even avoid any food allergy as well. One thing I do know: diarrhea is not present anymore. That bad food, as bad as it is for diabetes, it does work wonders for her tummy and her literbox time.
Also, she seems to have a constant weight, around 15 LBS and since she is in a friendly mood, I try to get her to eat more wet food so she will not pack too much of the dry food. We will see if it works properly, in time probably will because the moment she feels secure about her food, she is not around to guard it anymore. Every cat is different but Chanel has the work cut out for me:kiss::p
