Hey Y'all,

It's been awhile. I started a new job on 12/9/2019 so I haven't been able to test Triton as often I would like.

Triton's dosing method was changed on 12/14/1019 to SLGS. I also decreased his dose to 1 unit. For the possibility of too much insulin.

I have a week worth data on SLGS on 1unit. Today is curve day.

I would think he needs a decrease based on his numbers on 12/17/2019. What you guys think?

Also, for today's insulin shot, should I had stalled due to his low number? Is it also ok for me to give him a small teaspoon of HC wet canned food due to him dropping fast?

Regarding stalling -- I think the data told you you did the right thing by shooting.

I do think it's very difficult to know about dosing without more spot checks. I also wouldn't reduce based on data from 4 days ago especially since you've already reduced the dose by 0.5u.

Thanks for your recommendation. Yes, it is very difficult without spot checks. Especially, how unpredictable his numbers are.

On 12/17 he did drop down to 74 during his PM cycle. Wouldn't that mean he would need a decrease?

If I decide to decrease by .25 does it matter if I do it today for his PM cycle or should I start tomorrow?

It would have but you didn't take the reduction and it's 4 days later and there's nothing indicating that he needs a reduction now. Let me see if I can round up some additional eyes to take a look.

I would agree with Sienne to hold the dose right now and see how he does. He did bounce and cleared it and didn’t get below 90 again which is what you would look for for a reduction at this point.

Ok. Makes sense.

So I don't need to wait a week to make a dose adjustment with the SLGS method?

If, at any time during the week, you catch a 90 or below, you reduce the dose; you don’t wait. However, for making decisions on whether to hold the dose or increase, you base that on your weekly curve. Remember SLGS states this:

Hold the dose for at least a week:
  • Unless your cat won’t eat or you suspect hypoglycemia
  • Unless your kitty falls below 90 mg/dL (5 mmol/L). If kitty falls below 90 mg/dL (5 mmol/L) decrease the dose by 0.25 unit immediately.
