Chance arrived right on schedule and he's a wonderful boy! He doesn't really enjoy traveling, had an accident in his carrier so needed a sponge bath as soon as he got here. He was very good about that. Happily ate lunch and supper, and is relaxing comfortably. Doesn't seem concerned about my animals, nor are they about him. They are separated but can see and hear each other. He's going to be easy.
I've been reading through the sheaf of medical records and he's been through a lot - rescued by his mom 4 years ago as an intact stray with an eye problem, was treated several times for a painful corneal ulcer/ lesion which was later discovered to be entropion and properly fixed by an ophthalmic surgeon. Had to be hospitalized for a mystery illness. Then got diagnosed with diabetes 2 years ago. Poor guy couldn't catch a break.
According to the records his sugar has ranged anywhere from 40 to 400 so my plan is to give him a day or so to settle in, see where he lands and take it from there.
Judy, thank you. I haven't looked at that in years. Muffy was very special and it was because of her that I found this board and learned about diabetes and so many other things. It's because of her that I try to help other cats. Someday I'll have to update it.
