TYLER'S JOURNEY #6

@MrWorfMen's Mom hey Linda the site must have been having problems this morning, I tried numerous times and said something like database error, try later, anyway here is what I did this morning
SATURDAY 7-20-19
AMPS - 147 I shot 0.5 u on the line, SS filled in

Thanks. I have Tyler's SS on my drive so I just checked on him there to satisfy my curiosity when I couldn't get on the board! ;) The board usually goes out between 7:30 & 8am for a few minutes every day, I presume for backup purposes but today it was out for hours! Must have had a glitch needed fixing!

Yes it was out for hours, how do you think I did on decideing what dose to go with @MrWorfMen's Mom

When I looked I smiled and said "she's got this!". Trust yourself and if you are really unsure, then be conservative. :D
Thank you Linda, it's all because of you teaching me what to do and explaining everything to me

@MrWorfMen's Mom morning Linda I'm kind of stumped with the dosage, but I'll take a stab at it lol
SUNDAY 7-21-19
AMPS 134 I searched back and saw a BG of 133 in the morning and shot 0.25 and his BG actually went up through the cycle, weird. Do you think skinny 0.5
That BG of 133 was on 7-4-19 morning

As long as you can monitor Tyler, you can try a slightly higher dose and see if that works better. A skinny 0.5u seems a good option. :D

You're right. I had a massive number of alerts and missed yours. I'm so sorry. But as usual, you chose well. That drop at +2 last night wasn't too bad. A 50% drop is actually pretty good. It's bigger drops that set off a lot of bouncing. Wondering what set off that yellow last night though...doesn't look like he got the extra little drop later in the cycle yesterday. Oh well....different day!

Love your new avatar. Tyler looks so cute on that turquoise table. Definitely his colour! :D
Tyler says thank lol, I just love the little brown spot on his nose. He is sitting on an old vintage school desk that my husband found many years ago and re finished it for Ashley when she was little. I had to cover it with a pillow case because both Tyler and Perry kept jumping on it and making scratch marks @MrWorfMen's Mom

Sorry I was sawing logs when you posted last night. WOW! So now you know you need to be a little more conservative at night in case Tyler decides to get frisky and really work the juice. He was still safe at 71 but lower than you want him to be and too close to the "action needed" number on your AT2. You did great and he came back up on the low carb food which is great. The only thing I would have done differently would be to test again sooner than an hour (max 30 minutes) after the lowish reading. He could have gone even lower in that 1 1/4 hours between tests.

In case of this happening again though, I'd suggest you keep some wet medium and high carb food on hand rather than relying on the low carb and Dr. Elsey. Dr. E's is not only lower carb but dry food takes longer to hit the system. For the longest time I had nothing but kibble to use with my girl because that's all she would eat but I found out the hard way she likes sugar donuts so I kept a supply in my freezer and always kept one thawed and waiting on a saucer just in case I ever got a really low reading that wasn't going to wait for kibble to click in. Trying to get honey or karo into Menace always ended in both of us wearing it!

As for the yellow this AM, Tyler is bouncing a bit and will come back down to earth soon. :D

@MrWorfMen's Mom Hi Linda sorry for the late response, what a day, short story the young girl and her boyfriend who live above me and are constantly making noise and their kid is always running back and forth all day long. I told them about Ashley when the they moved in and asked them to be considerate, because of her disease and noise makes her worse. It's a four family and the other tenants are great. I have called the cops on them about 5 times already and even one of the cops saw the kid spinning around and throwing hetsehe on the floor. It's an old house and you can hear everything

I put letters in their mail box asking them nicely to stop the kid from running and also to stop slamming things in their floor. So the other day I get a letter from the town that she's taking me to court. I was livid!!!!
I went this morning and the judge listened to both of us, I had to keep my temper in check. She showed the judge the 2 letters I wrote and put in their mail box and he read them out loud. He looked at her, the little snot nose and said I don't see anything wrong with what Diane write, these are not harrasing. She said she was tired of the cops coming to her house.
So I said well if you stop your kid from running back and forth I wouldn't have to.
So she said to the judge that I shouldn't even be touching her mail box. The judge said to her are you for real, She says to him what do you want me to do lock my kid up in a cage, I said that's not a bad idea lol.

I looked at her and said are you stupid, I just want you to be considerate that I live below you, I said I hope your kid never gets sick.
The judge just told her that she was ridiculous with what was coming out of her mouth.
He said they have a program or something like that where a moderator sits down with both of us and trys to work things out.
I said no way, I just want her to stop this s**t and to be considerate.
We were standing in front of the judge , we were side by side, she said something so stupid that I turned and faced her and she said to the cop that was there standing behind us to ask me to back away from her.
The judge looked at her and said are you crazy, Diane didn't even move toward you.
I wanted to claw her eyes out, I started to get loud and had to stop myself.
So what she was looking for was for the judge to probably tell me to stop calling the cops on her, he also said I was not at all harrassha her.
Well it didn't work. I told the judge if she continues I'm going to continue to call the cops, that's what they told me I could do.
Plus I see that she is pregnant. There is no room in their apartment for 2 kids, I have seen their apartment before when the other tenants lived there.
They are here about 2 yrs now.
I am looking for an apartment every day, it's so expensive here in N.J.
I can't afford that much. But I'll keep looking.
I will post it on facebook on the site we have for the town I live in Lyndhurst, N.J.
Maybe someone I know will see it, I will explain my situation and say I'm very quiet, my daughter is sick and if you want a good tenant that's me.

You don't know what I would like to do to the two of them, her and her boyfriend.
I just have to keep my temper because I don't need to get arrested lol, Ashley needs me.
But mark my words, they will get theirs.

Ok so , yes I wasn't sure if I should test Tyler 30 minutes after I fed him.
Now I remember reading that. You are so right, I agree .
So you see this morning his BG was 204 and I shot skinny 0.75 . He was ok, I didn't get home until that +4 which was 114, then fed him.
I tried the gravy lovers about 2 weeks ago just to see if he would eat it, he just walked away. I tried 2 different flavors. Do you think if I ever need it, I can pour the gravy over his FF Chicken Pate. Any suggestions on any other supermarket brands that are medium carbs? What % is considered medium carbs and what % is considered high carb.
I think he just likes the texture of the pate. He doesn't like to chew food lol, I always have to add water to the FF and get it to the right texture for him. He's a pain in the butt.
Let's see what his BG is tonight, and see what we should shoot. I will talk to you later

What do you think about his numbers so far
TUESDAY 7-23-19 gave 0.75 skinny, I know you saw this already
@+4 - 114
@+9 - 117 is this good that he's staying this low so far. @MrWorfMen's Mom I just looked at the food chart and picked out some FF one with 12 carbs, one with 15 carbs and one with 20 carbs. Like I said he won't chew food, maybe I can put it in the blender and see if he will eat it , if I ever have to use it, or will pouring the gravy over the FF Pate work? @MrWorfMen's Mom

argh !!:arghh::arghh::arghh:

one upon a time I lived in an apartment, and a football player had the apartment above
starting at 5 or 6 every morning, he worked out with barbells, did jumping exercises -- this went on, off and on, until 11 at night

I was pregnant ....

fortunately my husband, who was working in Alaska, came back with enough money that we could move ...

so, I feel for you! yes keep on calling the cops -- and what about the landlord? if they're slamming things onto the floor and into the walls, they are probably damaging the property -- could be cause for terminating their occupancy

I went to school with the landlord, he's a piece of s**t. Went to school with his wife also. They are worth a fortune. I spoke to him several times and he said they told him they ateare doing anything out of the normal.
I'll just keep looking for a new place and if I do find one, I will deal with the landlord and the two pieces of s**t above me in due time

Oh the problems of living in a multi household dwelling! People are so callous and unconcerned about anybody but themselves. I take it from the young children in the picture that the so called adults are much younger people than us, many of whom seem to think their "needs" outweigh anyone else's. And goodness knows none of us would have been let away with what parents today let their kids do. I am so glad you were able to hold your anger and can only imagine what was going through your mind. I would have been in serious trouble. I don't hold my tongue well at all in the face of utter stupidity. At least you got a reasonable judge who now realizes that family is trouble and it will all be documented.

Anything about 11 to 15% would be medium carb and anything over 15% high carb. If Tyler won't eat anything but pate, you can look for something that has potatoes in it for higher carb without it necessarily be gravy style. I think there are also some of the medleys or something similar in FF that might fit the bill. I had a one flavour wonder too, so I used kibble and sugar donuts. You just do what you have to do to keep them safe.

Tyler may be bouncing a wee bit today after that lower green yesterday so not to worry. He's doing great thanks to the care he's getting and you deserve a medal for your patience with everything you are dealing with. Go get yourself a treat.....chocolate, wine whatever! You've earned it!
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

do you have a Trader Joe's anywhere around? looking at Dr Lisa's list, looks like some of their pates wind up as Medium Carb -- I was looking for brands fairly widely distributed, which also show as economical

9Lives "meaty pate" line appears to straddle the line between LC and MC ... I see that at Walmart -- didn't like the ingredients for Catcat who appears to be rather carb sensitive .. even Friskies causes him to run a little higher, possibly because of the rice

not sure if Tractor Supply has stores in your area -- their 4Health grain free turkey/giblets and chicken/whitefish flavors are LC, but most of the rest of the line is MC or on the high end of LC .. their Paws&Claws has rice in it (not on her list) and probably edging towards MC -- except for the Kitchen Selects (little cans, FF wannabe)

Hi Linda, I'm going to test his PMPS in then minutes, 8:30 pm, I'll put it in the SS immediately, and we can see what dose to give ok! @MrWorfMen's Mom

@MrWorfMen's Mom just tested
TUESDAY 7-23-19
PMPS - 161 considering what happened night what do you think for tonight.
It's funny I looked at past night time pre shots that were similar to last night's , some even higher than the 174 last night and he never went that low?

Well sounds to me like Mom could use a bit of break today so I don't think I'd try the skinny 0.75u again tonight. Who knows whether Tyler's pancreas just decided to jump into action more or what but he definitely worked the juice last night. How about 0.5u on the line, Mom gets some rest and Tyler doesn't get poked any more than absolutely necessary? :D

Sounds good to me, I wonder if not feeding @+1 like we did before had anything to do with him dropping so low, but probably not right? @MrWorfMen's Momdid you see my other question about higher carbs would pouring the gravy in his Pate work just as well if I ever needed to use it

Might have been I kind of doubt it. I think there was more going on. Did he perhaps eat a little less at his pre-shot meal? Did he get active chasing a fly? ANy number of things could be at play as well as simple biology. The unanswerable question right now!

WEDNESDAY 7-24-19
AMPS - 196 do you think 0.75 skinny @MrWorfMen's Mom
If I ever had to use med or high carb food do you think pouring the gravy on his FF Pate would do the trick, I bought some gravy lovers once to see if he would eat it, just walked away, he doesn't like anything he has to chew, or maybe I can put it in a blender and make it into a Pate with some water @MrWorfMen's Mom

Yes that sounds like a good dose for this morning.

You can certainly try putting the gravy on the pate but I would try the gravy by itself. Drain the gravy off into a saucer or bowl and see if Tyler will lap it up a tsp to tbsp. of it (no chewing required! :woot:) If he will lap it up that's all you need to give him for a quick boost without filling him up with food. I wouldn't pour it on the pate because if he doesn't like it he might then refuse to eat his pate and that would be a big problem particularly if you are trying to get his BG up. ;)

Morning Linda, ok with the dosage, if ever needed I'll drain the heck out of the can lol, thanks, will talk to you later my friend @MrWorfMen's Mom

Hey Linda, not that I plan on doing a curve test on Tyler, but I forgot when doing them, it's #1 get a pre shot number. #2 then you feed #3 wait 30 minutes .#4 then give Insulin. Then test every 2 hours. Can you feed them at all while doing a curve test @MrWorfMen's Mom

I'm guessing your vet probably wanted you to feed Tyler 2 meals a day, only before shots too so it follows the curve would be done the same way. The old school wisdom was that you push a pile of food on kitty twice daily and let kitty starve the rest of the day probably based largely on the fast early drops in BG caused by Vetsulin in many kitties. We now know that isn't the best way to handle feeding. :)

You are absolutely correct! Lol poor Tyler was starving.
Funny Tyler's BG tonight was the same as this morning
WEDNESDAY 7-24-19
PMPS - 196 what do you think since that episode the other night #73. Should I go with 0.5 fat, 0.5 on the line , or chance the 0.75 skinny again @MrWorfMen's Mom Ok I'm going to shoot now so I'm not up to late with him. I think I will go with the 0.5 fat

Sorry. I fell asleep on my sofa watching the "political" event of the day which I taped! Apparently it wasn't rousing enough to keep me awake. Seriously though, just zonked out from the lawn work and dealing with the kid who cuts it for me.
Good choice going with the fat 0.5u dose. You can try the 0.75u again on that kind of pre-shot during the day if you like but I'd try it there first before doing a night experiment.

Thanks I was a little bit nervous shooting the 0.75 skinny tonight, I remembered what you said, if not sure then be conservative. You must be tired doing all the yard work, plus the weather can knock you out

Actually today was quite pleasant. I don't mind the heat and it was only about 80 or so ....it's the humidity and thankfully we are getting a little reprieve from that until the weekend. I think my "tired" is more from dealing with the kid who cuts the lawn while I putz with the weeds, pond and fountain. He has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and is somewhat ADHD. I'm beginning to think he may not be taking his medication again because he has been a bit more of handful the last few weeks. I sometimes wonder how he doesn't drive his mother totally off the deep end leaving garbage around and jumping from one task to another so I have been having to keep more tabs on him lately.

Yes today wasn't bad here either, I actually just shut my air cicondition off.
I'm sitting here watching TV and trying to eat a piece of white bread, Perry just won't leave me alone. He loves white bread. I've never had a cat that liked white bread. He likes Nutri Grain Bars, Blueberry. He also won't leave me alone when I'm eating Strawberry Licorice He tries to bite a piece off. Of course I would never let him have it.
He also likes Bran Flakes Cereal. Always bothers Ashley when she's eating it. Tyler has never bothered me for anything at all. When I try to sneak something to eat that Perry
likes, he knows right away. Can't hide anything from him lol.
Wow the kid does sound like a handful. What a shame he has fetal alcohol syndrome
Soon I will be testing Tyler at 11:45 will be +3.
I'm sort of pooped myself. I will talk to you later or in the am.

Oh Perry doesn't surprise me at all. I don't believe for one moment that cats can't taste sweet. I had a cat who liked cottage cheese but only if I had pineapple on it. Another loved jelly rolls. And then there is Menace. Wouldn't touch any food that didn't crunch from the time she was a kitten till 2+ years into our diabetic journey. She picked up a piece of tortiere off the floor one day and ate it. I gave her another piece thinking perhaps I could get her to eat soft food but no.....the offered bit wasn't apparently to her liking. But then came the peanut butter sandwich. If you need a good laugh I posted about it HERE because everyone knew what a reticent little kibble head she was. Shortly after the PB sandwich, I caught her nibbling on a sugar donut I left sitting on the table which actually worked to my advantage because I finally had something other than karo or kibble to get her BG up if she went too low! :D

Oh my God just read about Menace, that's so funny, our kitties are just so crazy, gotta love them. I just tested Tyler it's on the SS
