Bear was born right around this time 10 years ago.
We had unseasonable rain storms that year and his mother abandoned him and two litter mates under a shed that flooded.
A well intentioned neighbor who had rescued the 3 kittens begged me to take care of them a few days later because they all had become weak with extreme diarrhea from drinking cows milk.
All of them still had their eyes closed.
I first rid them of their fleas, bottle fed them every 4 hours kitten milk substitute, gave them vitamins and they all recovered and thrived.
Two of them were adopted one male solid black and the other a female Calico.
It was fate that no one picked Bear to adopt because I knew he was the best with the most coordination and predatory skills plus he already had a piece of my heart.
I not so reluctantly added him to my family.:D

So Happy Birthday my Beautiful Black Bear!

Plus a HUGE thank you to this forum and all the members that have saved Bear's life more than once which allowed Bear to reach the big 10 year mark.

I guess Bear is Middle Aged now, lol.

Happy Birthday, Bear! It sounds like fate brought you together. I love how our cats find us - sometimes even when we aren't looking! Bear definitely made it to the right place in the middle of all that rain and flooding! :bighug:

Happy Birthday Bear, you are one lucky little fellow to have such a great and loving family. Love the pics Lora, thank you so much for sharing.

Please make sure there is a thick rope or a platform from your pool water to the pool edge at all times. That way animals can escape.

Summary of real bad memory. Forty years ago, I lifted a drowned cat out of the DoughBoy pool at my high school girlfriend's house. Her parents had left the pool half full. It was a horrible way to go, and I'll always remember it.

We have an in-ground pool now. I have 2 thick ropes in it at all times. Even a mouse can escape using those. As a result, we never find any critters in the pool except bugs. And lots of leaves! Our pool is strategically positioned right under some trees by the previous house owner.
