? Bad strips??

Please take a look at baby's SS at +7. I tested 3 times in a row within a minute of each other and got 22(yikes), then 104, then 194. That 22 had to be a bad reading, right? I fed her some high carb anyway and she went down to 111, then back up to 140. Wondering if I should shoot her 18.5U at PMPS? So very strange for her. Thanks for any input!

I wish I had advice. Hope someone with more knowledge comes on. I haven't hit that high a dose but I would not be comfortable either consider tonight is also change clocks night.

Oh, you're right! I hadn't even thought of that! Her tumor must have just stopped for a moment, or the IAA broke? Who knows. I just don't want her to go any lower!

at +10 she's going down again to 101 - I don't think I should shoot the 18.5?? @Wendy&Neko (I just gave her a few high carb treats)
That drop again would account for the higher carb food wearing off. And that said, if the 22 was a correct number the HC food would have probably just boosted her 20 -30 points top. So, I am suspecting that the 22 was not correct.

This is only the 3rd cycle with the 18.5 dose. Usually, it takes 4 for the depot to fill.

When was the IAA diagnosed. Has it been a year. If so, then maybe things are changing. I am afraid, I am out of my league with dosing advice and reductions for High dose kitties.

She is still in a nice safe number.

She was diagnosed with Acro and IAA last May, so coming up on a year and (fingers crossed), hopefully we've reached the dose that FINALLY works for her! I'm glad she is in the 100's, but so unusual for her so not sure how to shoot.

Sorry for the late reply, was out of town today and just got back.

I rather suspect the 22 was inaccurate and you just didn’t get enough blood on the strip. It’s always best to retest right away, without unnecessarily giving high carb food. When she is in lower numbers, you also don’t want to feed early. Otherwise you don’t know if the numbers are rising due to food, or the natural rise at the end of the cycle. For the same reason, stay away from those high carb treats end of cycle, unless she is low (below 50).

Skipping Baby’s shot when she is in safe blues is not doing her any favours. She will be sky high tomorrow. I notice a couple other times when you have skipped with her in blues after a good cycle. Also times when you have **** four hours late (March 3) and look like the next shot may not have been 12 hours after that. On March 1st, it looks like you gave an extra 4 units later in the cycle. That is not safe practise. Consistent dosing works best, unless she earns a dose reduction.

Another good practise to get into is getting a before bed test every night. Since you cannot test during every day cycle, the night cycles will give you the data that tell you how she is doing on this dose. She got down to the 30’s on 18 units a couple weeks ago, which is way too low and earned a reduction by1 unit. Since you are now at 18.5 units, I would be cautious and use every opportunity to gather data.

That number is the pretty much the same as the +10. If you can monitor tonight, I would shoot. These lower numbers are what you have been waiting for. Shoot now and get a +1 and +2. I will hang with you.
Thank you, Bobbie. I ended up shooting 3 hours later than her normal 7pm time. She was 180. So I'll keep an eye on her.

Baby's "normal" is mostly in the 300's, so that when she suddenly got a few low numbers I guess I panicked and was afraid to give her more insulin (or at least at the normal time). Low numbers are very new to her and me. She was 180 at 10pm (3 hours past normal PMPS), so I shot her normal 18.5 at 10pm and will keep an eye on her.
