Hi all,
Vines and prayers for all kitties in need.

Previous post

George is back on the juice, he got a steroid shot and it's knocked him out of remission.:(
On Wednesday morning he refused to eat, those of you that know him will be hearing the same alarm bells ringing that I did, he had diarrhea and had puked too. Throughout the morning he ate a little but not much. So off we went to the vet, he had fluid/inflammation in his tummy, and vet felt he needed a steroid shot, even though he was reluctant due to his FD history. Si he gave him a slow acting shot, by the time I got home his appetite was back and he was clearly feeling better. But sure enough his BG started to climb, spent all day in mid blues yesterday hitting yellow and finally pink this morning. I've given him 0.25 u.

He has been doing really well so it's very sad and frustrating that this has happened.

I'll try and check in on some kitties today. So many new names, and sadly some names conspicuous by their absence.

Surf safely:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I’ve missed you @Gill & George :)
I’m so very sorry to hear about George.
Nelli diabetes was directly steroid (unecesarily so ) induced. Steroids s***!
I hope George gets doing better and get off the juice ASAP :bighug:
Thanks, Kristina, I've been busy and when you don't check in regular it's hard to keep up with all the kitties. I'll take this as an opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

Welcome back :bighug:
I was wondering where and how you and George were/are! I've missed your presence on the board.
So sorry to hear about George needing the steroid shot. I hope the tummy issues stay resolved and that he won't have to be back on the juice for long.
Sending healing vines to him from across the ocean!

Thanks Barbara..

I was going to say that it's good to see, but the circumstances suck, of course. Steroids are such a mixed blessing. They work amazingly well for so many things, from allergies to digestive issues, slipped discs, and cancer - but I will never look at them the same after they triggered Mandarin's diabetes in the first place.

Fingers and paws crossed that George will go back into remission soon.

Nice to see you again Gill, although I'm sure you wish it was under better circumstances. Hope George gets back to the falls quickly.

Avatar is Olive aka Ollie, she is new here so I don't think you know of her. Just coming up on a year.

Sorry George got knocked out of remission. I hope he is back to the Falls soon, and that whatever caused the need for steroids has been resolved.
You helped me quite a few times when we first arrived on the board. I am forever grateful to your for that. :bighug:

Hi Kristina, just looked at your boy's numbers and both of them are OTJ What an exciting Christmas holiday you must have had, fantastic start to the New Year, congratulations. I do hope BFG will join your bboys at the falls very soon, but with a +9 of 400, yuck, it might be a while.

Hi Paula, yes I have seen Ollie, she's a beauty, though I know she has been something of a challenge dosing. Her numbers are looking a looking a lot better.

Hi Rosie, thanks for stopping by, I do remember you both, Bailey is looking great, hope we have a party for him soon. keep up the excellent work.

Great to see you again, but I'm very sorry to hear about George needing insulin again. If anyone ever doubted the effect of steroids, he's a prime example. :(

I hope it will be a short-lived adventure away from the falls. :bighug:

Between the acro and unknown p'titis she's been a toughy. I think we finally turned the corner for now.

Hello G&G, So sorry to see he had to have steroids:arghh: I wish the medical world could come up with another alternative to that double-edged sword.

Welcome back - however we all are hoping your stay here won't be for very long - in the meantime - you're back among friends - what is the saying? misery loves company? As we are all on the same journey here...:bighug:

Oh Gill! I am sooooo very sorry about George being knocked out of remission. Steroids are a mixed blessing for sure and I feel like Christine about them .

How long will the steroid stay in his system? I think since this is his 3rd time on the juice, I would get ahold of those higher numbers as quickly as you can with more insulin and maybe bump him up to .50 after the 4th cycle if he is still hanging high. Your starting dose was low enough that you could be aggressive. JMHO.

Hugs! :bighug:
