If it was me, I'd skip if you can't get her to eat. I'd be worried she'll go low tonight and not eat. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
@carfurby
I agree Carla. No shot :(
I tried, tried again withinlast 30minutes- will n.o.t eat :(
She has gone into one of her dark places she sleeps.
Not too unusual, she hits the rack roun’ 7:30p every night.
OMG, why won’t she eat!?!!!

I hope you can get the Drontal into her and it helps. Below are some things we suggest people try if their cat won't eat. Sending prayers.

Do you have any parmesan cheese? If you maybe sprinkle a little of that on her food, she will perhaps eat? usually ondansetron is better for nausea than cerenia but it doesn't hurt to give her the cerenia....it can help.

Can you finger feed her....either see if she will lick food off your finger or will she let you dab some on the front of her tongue or on the roof of her mouth? Just be careful that it's only a small amount and that you don't get it down her throat.

Here's some info Jill often posts when a kitty won't eat:Here are some things you can do do entice your cat to eat:

-sometimes in order to get a cat to eat you even have to resort to dry it is more important that they eat. there are a couple low carb / grain free brands -- EVO and wellness core.

-making a buffet to give him choices
- heating food

sprinkle food with :
- forta flora -- a probiotic you can get at vets or online. is very smelly and cats love the taste of it.
- parm. cheese
- smashed crumbles of dry food
- Purebites Duck Liver -- crushed and put on as a topper.
- bonito tuna flakes
- halo chicken treats -- crumble into dust over food
- poor a little water from tuna in water over food ( I use low sodium/no sodium added as other kinds in water has veg. broth in it and I assume that means onions, which are toxic to cats-- check labels)
-powdered oregano. yep sounds weird . but some cats like it and it will entice them to eat.

other ideas of foods to offer your kitty to stim appy:
- trader joe tuna for cats
-baby food -- beechnut turkey and broth or chicken and broth. they have no onions or other additives. some babyfoods have onions . please read labels if you can't find beechnut.
- kentucky fried chicken
- deli turkey /chicken
- plain cooked ( boiled or baked ) chicken breast
-canned chicken for people (watch the label that their are no onions)
- chicken broth -- low sodium

Tiffany was a kitten when I had to worm her. I had to bring her to the vet because I couldn’t pill her. I still would not rule out pancreatitis and wonder if she’s nauseous. Do you have any cerenia to try ? I’d skip insulin tonight as well.

Thanks for your shoutout :)
I will not rule out Pancreatitis. I researched, read Marje info... do not see enough similarities in symptoms- Nelli’s symptoms and Pancreas symptoms.
I will not rule out, will have test done, thanks.
Wouldn’t Nelli show symptoms of nausea? She only smacks mouth, etc when; after she eats?
Could not wanting to eat be a symptom of nauseous?
No, I don’t have cerebra... it has not been brought up by (any) Vet.

Max did not show any signs of nausea. That’s why I was so surprised when some people I know said he’s likely nauseous. He just became inappetent. Of course there are other reasons for inappetence in cats, it’s good to try cerenia or ondansetron to see if they eat. I’ve also used cerenia and Zyrtec.

Worms can be very difficult to detect unless you do actually find it in the stool. Sometimes, they can be seen at specific times in their life cycle but a negative test does not mean she doesn’t have worms.

If she has continued really smelly and soft poo, it could potentially be Giardia or Coccidia since she goes outside but these are also difficult to diagnose. They usually treat based on really smelly, soft poo.

Cats can receive weekly Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) injections, if needed, for up to six weeks. Then once monthly. Not sure why the vet said only one per month.

Do not give Aloe Gel! The only aloe vera you can give a cat is fractionally distilled and the only one I am aware of is George’s.

The chomping and pawing at her mouth is really strange. Nauseous cats will sometimes grind their teeth. I do agree she needs someone to do a specfPL. I am surprised they didn’t do any labs or fluid support (Subq fluids). Does she seem to be in pain.....meatloafed with head down?

Sorry to hear your Nelli isn't feeling well. Just did a quick read through of the thread. Bear in mind with symptoms, not all kitties will act the same way with pancreatitis or many other issues. You've gotten a lot of great advice :) so the only thing I wanted to add was when my boy had a flare of p-titis, he would only eat his Young Again Zero dry food. He would try to eat the wet food but walked away and licked his lips. He also did not have any acid reflux but I had famotadine when I got his other meds. I had the SNAP fPL test because it was more affordable and it gave me the yes/no I needed. I was unemployed when it happened, on top buying his diabetes supplies, so that's why I chose that test over Spec fPL. Good luck to you both :bighug::bighug::bighug:.

@Marje and Gracie thanks for your shout out :bighug:
She has, within past 36 hours had very smelly gas and runny poo.
Difficult to diagnose- Giardia or Coccidia.
Would rx Drontal eliminate these?
Aloe gel I have been giving her, by Herbal Aloe Force? Not good? upload_2019-1-20_22-18-0.jpeg
Vet said “vitamin b-12 (cyano) only once every 4 weeks”- in here lies my suspicious confidence in Veterinarian knowledge :nailbiting:
I agree strange and unexplainable- “the chomping and pawing at her mouth” :(
The vet yesterday did fluid subq fluids and a b-12 injection
Well yes I guess now she is n pain . She is meatloafing with head hanging low... too often over past 60 hours :(

Buddy smacks his mouth when he is nauseous, I have been told that is 1 way to tell if a cat is nauseous. some cats when they are nauseous will only eat dry food. When I syringe feed Buddy I always add warm water to his food so it is like a broth. Sometimes he will drink the broth on his own. Not eating can get very serious, if a cat goes over 48 hrs., and does not eat they can have serious liver problems. Have you tried a can of tuna, my cats will drink the liquid when they are sick and then go back and eat some tuna. Good luck, I hope you will find something she will eat, if not you could syringe feed her.

What tests if any did the ER doctor run? It's not difficult to diagnose Giardia. You just need a poop sample or a swab from the bum.

Is there another vet you can see soon? What meds did ER doctor administer to you?

When Smokey had p'titis his stool was really really stinky, (it could clear the room and it was grey) it was the only thing that alerted me something was wrong. He ate most of his meals. No vomiting or diarrhea. Vet said he didn't have it, he thought EPI, to humor me I asked for ultrasound because I could get it that day while waiting on blood results. He had it and possible IBD. So he got cerenia, bupre and er vet (only place that does US) put him on AB metronidazole.

Olive is very uncomfortable, eats well, not nauseous, lethargic, no vomiting or diarrhea. No stinky stool. Her blood test value increased. This last time (4th test) vet put her on metronidazole, subq fluids, and b12. She was already on bupre but now permanently. Also on gabapentin.

Symptoms can be different for each cat.

It might be a good idea to keep her inside until she is over this. You don't know what she might be getting into outside.

You know to give the drontal 2 weeks apart I think.

When I first found out Buddy had pancreatitis, his vet said if he goes outside that needs to stop. A sick cat is easy prey for other animals.

Not true. Giardia can be difficult to diagnose. When my Tobey was a kitten, he had the symptoms but nothing showed up in his stool. We treated for Giardia and it cleared up and never came back.

No it won’t. The vet will have to figure out which one it is, if it is the issue, and prescribe the appropriate drug such as Albon.
Aloe gel I have been giving her, by Herbal Aloe Force? Not good?
Absolutely NOT good. The only one I am aware of that is safe to give cats is the one I indicated. I’m wondering if this is the source of the problem...the aloe gel.
Well yes I guess now she is n pain . She is meatloafing with head hanging low... too often over past 60 hours :(
Sounds like she’s feeling pretty poorly.

How is she today?
