Food carb percentages?

I was just reading the Lantus group slang dictionary today (to try to figure out references to sharks and the lagoon :)), and they define it as:

LC - low carb aka reg canned food (usually 10% carbs or less, depending on the carb sensitivity of the cat)
MC – Medium carb food (usually 11 - 15% carbs, depending on the carb sensitivity of the cat)
HC - High carb canned food (usually 16 - 24% carbs, depending on the cat)

Thanks and the slang dictionary will come in handy too!

Regarding low carb foods, the general rule is to stay beneath 10% of calories from carbs.
However, many cats will do better at carb levels lower than that; and remission is statistically more likely on a diet of 4 - 6% calories from carbs, or less.
But....this does not necessarily mean that the cat should be on the lowest carb food possible. Some cats will respond to very low carb diets with raised blood glucose levels. It all depends on the individual cat...

Thank you. Love your comment "it all depends" because that is life with my Andy. He is a tricky one! Now trying to manipulate his numbers using food so maybe get him lower for longer. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
