? Cat calming diffusers - Feliway vs. Comfort Zone vs. others?

Hello all,

I am looking for advice on which brand to get. We have used the "Comfort Zone with Feliway" one before, and I am not sure if it helped, but let's say maybe a little bit. However, I went to buy refills and apparently they are just called "Comfort Zone" now. I don't think it contains Feliway anymore? :bookworm:

I did a little reading online, and it appears that the studies are not consistent on Feliway helping, but Feliway appears to be the original product. But now there's a bunch of other brands too. And to complicate things further, there's also Feliway Original and Feliway Multicat. :eek:

I am trying to use this as an adjunct to a Jackson Galaxy stepwise method of introducing of my 2 cats to the new kitten. (We are still at the stage where they eat on the opposite sites of a door. well, 2 of them do... one of my older cats won't eat next to it so she's eats few feet away. Sometimes she won't eat. This is why I am looking into this o_O)

So I need some advice on which brand and what subtype to get. So many options, so little evidence. :facepalm:

Any input is appreciated!
 
Are you wanting to use it for urine marking or for the cats to get along. For me the comfort zone for stress did very little, but the comfort zone for multi cats I use constantly! I can always tell when one runs our.
 
Well, one thing I can tell you is that no matter which you try, whether it will work and how well is completely dependent on the cat. These things don't do anything for some cats while they do a little for some and greatly benefit others. So, while people's experiences may be helpful, you will end up having to just try them to find out if they work for your cat. :)
 
Okay, I'll decide. Try the Feliway Multicat. :D Seriously though, the only studies that have been done at all appear to be with Feliway, so I would want to give that a shot rather than navigate through 'knock offs', and the multicat is supposed to be for helping cats get along which is what you want. On Amazon, they still have Comfort Zone that says 'with Feliway'. Looks like Janet gives the Comfort Zone for multicat a thumbs up!

I tried original Feliway spray trying to help calm my girls when having to go to the vet, but I can't say that it did anything for them in that regard. I think Willow actually did not like the smell of it. My sister's vet gave (sold) her an original Feliway diffuser hoping it would help soothe her wacky cat that gets stressed and has poop issues. The first couple of days she said she thought it was helping, but later she said she really did not think it was. Neither of us were trying it for helping cats get along though.

I have 2 cats, Fena my sugar and Mao my dental - and after his dental, based on how Fena always treated him after vet appointments/stays thus far, I got the Feliway MultiCat diffuser. It's been plugged in for.. *thinks* 9 days now and while the results aren't what I'd call drastic or obviously noticeable, they're BOTH more chill with each other.

Not necessarily with me and meds, etc. but each other yes. They seem to sleep better, and it helps bring out some of their bygone behaviors like Fena wanting in my lap to nap again during waking hours rather than strictly beside me or while I'm laying down to sleep at night.

For Mao, he's been sleeping more and more on his back - not fully yet, but every day he seems more comfortable to twist just that little bit more, etc.

They both seem happier too and more bright eyed. Course that might just be me imagining but I don't think so? LOL.

I also got the Feliway spray, to use in their carriers. Haven't tried that out yet but I will on the 13th, Mao's post-dental checkup.
