Timed wet food feeders? Thanks!!

Hi! Does anyone please have timed wet food feeders suggestions?

I asked here how to adapt a dry food feeder and got such great suggestions! I'm really grateful.

For Taco my diabetic cat I decided to get him a timed feeder especially for wet food.

It's because he has a very bad chronic constipation problem and as he's diabetic too I want to keep him on wet food as exclusively as I can.

Taco like so many beloved cats he's a very finicky eater. Most often he'll only eat from a fresh can of food.

Otherwise the half of canned food from the morning I have to spoon feed him for him to be interested in it. He still doesn't eat the full amount of dinner.

He routinely wakes me up around 3:00 am and 6:00 a.m. At those times he's ravenous.

I also want to get him a timed wet food feeder because I'm concerned about his blood sugar dropping while going through the day not eating. As he won't eat his wet food throughout the day.

When I'm home in the evening I'll do above: spoon feed him food from the morning or if I'm totally exhausted from the day I'll give him a fresh can of food. Which is very expensive for me!

The vet wants him on Royal Canin High Fiber Calorie Control wet food.

Regarding the autofeeder Chris&China mentioned. I use that for wet food. The trick is I freeze portions of wet food and load the feeder at least three hours before any feeding. I use 1/2 can of FF pate and put them in snack bags in the freezer. The bottom shelf of my freezer is loaded with them.
I load as early as 9:00pm for a 9:00am feeding the next day. This keeps the food fresh and moist. When I load at 9:00pm, that is for an upcoming 12:00am, 3:00am, and 9:00am feeding.
 
I also use the Petsafe 5 compartment feeder. I usually fill the compartments before I go to bed and place an ice pack on top of the feeder. Freezing portions is a good idea. It's been really good for my cat who has IBD and needs to eat every few hours. It also helps to not be woken up at night by my kitty who thinks I'm the automatic feeder. When he hears the whirl noise as the feeder turns he knows the food is available.

Per this post, Taco's had a lifelong issue with constipation. I wonder whether that's why the vet wants him on the high fibre diet?

It's so tricky for Taco; he's got the overgrooming problem, too. (((Taco)))

Yes bc of Taco's chronic constipation I do think this is the reason the vet has him on CC high f. RC wet food
He was on so many different wet foods for his constant itching overgrooming biting. I just ordered Royal Canin rabbit (& peas) wet food as per Vet. Hopefully this will prove if all his horrible over grooming and biting himself is a food allergy. I'm worried to still give him vet RX Lactulose 2 ml and 1.0 ml of Cisapride. Bc I thought with food allergies only one food can be fed over several weeks with no other foods. In order to isolate the food regimen.

When I was counseled by my cat's specialist for elimination diets she said to only give him a novel protein limited ingredient diet that he had never had before for several weeks. No other treats and no other food. That works if they will eat the novel protein diet but if they don't it doesn't work out too well sometimes.. Rabbit was the first choice but unfortunately Leo didn't like it at all. I finally found a duck pate that he loves so he has stayed on that.
 
Yes! And thank you! Taco was badly constipated the first week home He was a kitten stray cat. A cat volunteer recommended pumpkin and it was Amazing!
Up until last year it was pretty good for his chronic constipation. About 2-3? Years ago he was severely severely constipated and had his first enema at the vet. I don't want him to have numerous enemas bc I don't want his small body strained. But thank you re Pumpkin

Thank you SO much Lillie! This is incredibly helpful bc he's about to go on rabbit (and peas) diet it's all in one Royal Canin wet food. I'm not sure if he can have Lactulose abs Cisapride for his constipation if these medicines would disturb the novel protein diet bc Lactulose has a "chicken flavor"
I'm definitely going to ask my vet but did you run into anything like this? Thanks!!
 
My cat's specialist told me that if it is an artificial chicken flavor it's ok but if it's real chicken it's not ok. There's also kangaroo pet food to try but I just couldn't go there for some reason. Besides that if or when a specialized food discontinues you can't find it anywhere else and are stuck trying to find a substitute. I just hope Canidae Pure duck pate never goes away because my cat has done the absolute best on this food.
Is there a reason the vet has not suggested Miralax for the constipation? Just wondering because it worked so well on my cats.
