Good morning? (Japan is currently PM 11 o'clock)

Utyun's AMPS was 341. + 4 = 140 + 6 = 109
PMPS was 393:facepalm:

I feel bouncing seems to be intense when I go down greatly.
Please tell me how to avoid a sudden drop.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Good morning/evening!

You are correct; bounces are triggered by fast drops, not just low numbers.

One thing you can try is to feed a small meal early in the cycle-- around +2, or even +1 if you see her blood glucose dropping (on the spreadsheet, it looks like Utyun sometimes dives early). Sometimes, this will slow down a drop, and that will prevent or lessen a bounce. You may have to experiment with this-- when you feed, how much you feed, what percentage of carbohydrates.

Hope this helps!

Hi!
I went to read your previous threads.

Kaori, yes, a thread per day. Copy and paste your previous thread when you make a new thread so that people can track you. Post a thread before you go to hospital and ask so that Utyun will be given "safe dose" while you are hospitalized. :bighug:

I have a question. TR says to reduce the dose if numbers drop below 50 on a human meter. SLGS under 90. I remember reading a guideline somewhere (I am not sure where anymore) that mentioned that if the numbers dropped below a certain threshold (but higher than 50 for TR or 90 for SLGS) multiple times over a certain period, a dose reduction might be done. Does anybody know what I am talking about?

I am wondering about this because Utyun has been in bright green numbers at least 4 times since 20th December. And today it seems he is bouncing. Is there a chance he might benefit from a dose reduction, even if he "technically" hasn't earned it? I am not sure if Kaori is following SLGS or TR, or doing something else, but I'm assuming TR from the numbers in the spreadsheet.

Forgive me in advance for being a bit of a mama bear, but given the language barrier, Google translate deficiencies and upcoming hospitalization, maybe this isn't the right thread to jump in on. Kako and tux, Kris and teasel, Nan and Amber are working closely together to support Kaori through this. It might be better not to complicate things. My opinion, humbly offered. No offense intended - please. :bighug:

Hi Nan

Thank you for teaching me.
Utyun eats hood with +1, +2, +3 after shot (T spoon 2)
After that, I will eat to +5 little by little.
Carbohydrates are 7% to 10%.
Could you tell me another one?
For example, if it dropped considerably after 2 hours, the hood given then MC? LC?

Hi Stephanie

At first it was SLGS, but I changed it to TR from the middle.
I changed the meter and I am sorry that my spreadsheets are complicated.

Hi Heidi

Thank you for your support.
I sincerely hope that your Myagi will also work.

Hi Kaori, Happy New Year.

You are doing a great job with the food.

Looking at the spreadsheet numbers, it seems that Utyun, when he drops fast he does so quite early, so by +2 he sometimes has dropped by a very large amount.
If we want to try and slow the drop, to try and control the bouncing, we need to get in there early with the food, before he drops so far.

With my Cat/ George, he would go fast but early, many times by +1 I would know if cycle was going to be a dropping one, so I would almost always get a +1, then if drop was very fast then I would try some MC(13%), or higher LC like 9%.
For George the +1 test was usually a much better indicator of how fast he might drop, so getting a +1 allowed me to make a decision about food and stay ahead of the insulin.

I am wondering about this because Utyun has been in bright green numbers at least 4 times since 20th December.
The bright green numbers are not 'real' Kaori is using a human meter, and hasn't dropped below 50, however, because she first started with an AT meter the SS is formatted as such, hence the confusion :)

I'll reply to this on your condo, with the language issues Kaori has I don't want to muddy the waters.:)

Happy New Year! Gill

Thank you for your advice.
Do you see the flow after seeing +1? Is it late for +2?

I still still have poor test ... especially cold in winter, no blood will come out even if I warm Utyun's ears.
I will pierce my ear many times. What about George?

Winter is definitely harder to get blood, I have no problem now, but I have been poking Georges ears for over two years now, so blood comes quite easily. Warming ears is best way to try and get a good drop when it is cold. You are doing a great job with him.

As you do not usually get +1, I would suggest trying a little experiment, try getting +1 on some days, in the beginning don't do anything different to what you have been doing till now, and see if that +1 does give you early warning of a downward flow.

If you find that it does give you a good indication of downward movement then try adjusting the food to see if it can help with slowing the flow and hopefully reducing the bouncing.

Gill, I understand. Thank you!

You're welcome Kaori.
Sending scritches to your Utyun.
Gill, please let me have another question.
There is Almo nature in the remarks column of SS of George
Almo nature is also sold in Japan.
But I do not know the carbohydrate content. Does Gill know the amount of carbohydrates?

It depends on the variety, however, I stopped using them as the values for ingredients were suspicious, a number of them had rice in the ingredients and I became suspicious that they were making Georges BG higher. Also it is not a complete food. Once I'd done a bit more research and found out where to buy good diabetic food, it was difficult for me here in spain this type of food is not available. I calculated the carbs using a nutrition calculator.

Have you looked at this list of diabetic foods, it is for the UK, but maybe some of them are available in Japan??https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1J5JpMe6TDXrHq_aTl9hUtHy6Gs9oRBqlz4nPGKxtySA/pubhtml

Thank you so much.

Is almo nature suspected of ingredients!
Yes, I saw UK 's food list.
What can be purchased in Japan are Animonda, Bozita (tetra pak), Leonardo.

I do not remember exactly, but someone contacted them and they were not helpful.

I remember when looking at the ingredients, on some it stated rice 1% yet when you did the calculations the carb was coming in at zero, not really possible if it had rice added. That's when I decided that the information on the packs and what was given by company could not have been very accurate/truthful that is when I stopped using it. Maybe it was coincidence, but George's BG improved after I stopped using it.
