Good morning!
AMPS 149 shooting 2u

Well last night I woke up at 1:30. Not sure what woke me up but it wasn't Boomer. I was still awake at 2:00; his auto feeder opened and he immediately jumped down from his bench and went to the kitchen. He was eating for quite a few minutes and I was hopeful he was going to allow me to remain in bed. I was wrong. He had a spoonful of food left; I told him to eat it and went btb. And he also got me up at 5:00. He had only the tiniest amount of food left; I told him it was all gone and went btb. I just don't know how to stop this routine of his.
Allen ate reasonably well last night. I talked to Dr Larry yesterday about the diazoxide and we're going to try capsule form because the liquid makes Allen drool at lot afterwards. I also told him we had stopped the cisapride because it had given Allen the diarrhea but that I was thinking of restarting because it obviously made Allen feel better. He suggested starting with one pill a day so Allen received that this morning.

The weather here is supposed to be miserable for the rest of the week; rain today and cold/snow for the rest of the week. So yesterday we went for a drive (snowy owl hunting again). No luck finding them :( but in one of the fields where we had seen them previously there was a Bald Eagle.....I took a few photos but he was too far away and the wind was blowing me (and my big-ass lens) around so the images didn't turn out.

Today on the agenda: editing two maternity sessions and then I have the unicorn cake smash to edit (definitely won't get all that done today lol) :arghh:

Sorry Boomer keeps waking you up. It seems to be a habit. I don't have any suggestions to break it. I hope the capsule works better for Allen. Sending prayers.

Sending prayers too for you and your boys, Judy :bighug: And if you would please send some rain south to us ...we are very dry here in the Ozarks and begging for rain/snow / precipitation in any form :)

I will be very pleased to send you any snow that comes our way! :p

You're doing it, Judy! It's hard to have the perspective when you're in the thick of it, but outside looking in, there has been a lot of progress already! You're not having to stir his food anymore for him to eat and occasionally he forgets to wake you up. You've drawn the line in the sand, and just like a 3 year old child, he's going to keep testing you over and over from many different angles to see if you relent. It takes a long time for him to know he's not going to get you to do what he wants you to do and give up for once and for all, but he will, eventually.

Hope Allen tolerates the new med form better.

It’s my uunderstanding that cisapride is for constipation and motility. If Alan’s not going Daily it’s needed but diarrhea means too much or not needed. Was he getting constipated when you stopped it? I hope the smaller dose works. If diarrhea occurs again you would need to cut back even more.

Boomer seems to be getting the message, just slowly.

Yes we were giving it periodically when he got constipated. Dosage was 3 pills a day. But even before he pooped it was very obvious that, about 3 hours after having the cisapride, he felt better....he was eating better and more active.....and this lasted for 3-5 hours. So because it had other benefits for him other than helping him poop, we (in consultation with Dr Larry) continued to give it to him. Unfortunately he did have the diarrhea so we stopped. Now have resumed with one pill a day. If it makes him feel better then he eats better and I'm able to get the clearlax and maybe some pumpkin into him as well.

Super good news! Wonder if one of his issues is mega colon or slow motility. Easy fix.

I'm pretty sure, but not completely positive, that megacolon would have shown up on the U/S. We had another member here whose kitty had megacolon and if I recall correctly, I think it was either U/S or x-ray that showed it...I think. Hopefully one pill a day will help...but I do wonder what the mechanism is in it that makes him feel better???

Nice green, Boomer!

Sending poop vines for Allen and be-considerate-of-your-mamabean vines for Boomer.

Neat on the Bald Eagle. We're supposed to get that weather in a day or so, but only the western parts of our area are expecting the lake-effect snow (more than a foot a snow).
