I could be wrong because math has never been my forte, but doing a rough calculation, it looks to me like it's about 25% carbs! Yikes! What brand do you usually feed him?Anyone have any experience with this cat food? There is a new limited ingredient grain free Duck pate from Canidae that I had to order for Leo because everyone is backordered for his regular duck cat food. Due to his IBD I am panicking.
I see the one on her chart that you're talking about. The one I looked at was the duck morsels; I also looked at the pate and it was high, as well. I couldn't find the one on Dr. Lisa's chart (I went to the Canidae website) but I found the Chaparral Canyon variety, which is about 11%. Dr. Lisa's information (and her math!) is undoubtedly a lot better than mine, so go with what her chart says, would be my advice.Hmm- After I posted I looked at Dr.Lisa's chart and it was listed as any where from 3% to 11%. The duck slices were higher than the pate's. Maybe I'm reading the chart wrong?
I was and am currently feeding Hills DD limited ingredient grain free duck pate. It is not considered low carb but with his IBD it was the only one I found that he doesn't throw up on a regular basis. He's done so well on this even though I know it's not the best for glucose levels. It came down to a trade off- sigh.
Lol, I don't know, but what a wonderful mental picture that paints! Why can't they just put a plain old bird or mouse in a can?

I am not a large person and collectively my cats weigh about 60 pounds. They snuggle in tight to me or on top of me at night, now that the weather has changed, and because of their weight on the covers, they tend to pin me down in bed. A couple of nights ago I had three of them in bed with me, and just as I closed my eyes the fourth one came and joined, and somebody started passing gas. OMG, it was probably the worst kitty gas I have ever experienced, and they had me pinned so I couldn't escape it, lol. I swear there had to be a big, green cloud of noxious gas surrounding my bed, it was awful, and it went on for about 10 minutes! The things we put up with for the love of our cats, lol!He doesn't pass gas anymore either- Thank God! A large cat with a lot of gas is not fun to be around!

Boy, do I ever know that feeling! Fingers and paws crossed that it works for him!I did receive the Canidae duck pate with LI and grain free yesterday. I've been mixing a small amount into what I have left of his other duck food. So far he's eating it so I guess I'll have to see if it starts coming back up or not. It's a pate but it's very dense so I have to cream it with water. Keeping my fingers crossed because it sure would be nice to be able to use a less expensive food for him.
