Little scary last night for me, was so happy to see the blues, but since she's new to this pattern, wasn't sure how low she'd go! Her numbers stayed pretty even for several hours which is also a really new thing for her and I was impressed with that. And what's that double dip about?

Hoping the GI trouble last night was a one off. It's not unusual for her to scoot or vomit on occasion as a singular incident. A little nervous today, I have to be gone one hour after her shot for a couple hours, I'm sure she will be fine, but new dose plus new numbers... :nailbiting:

BLUE BLUE BLUE BLUE!!! Doing the happy dance today!

Just seeing this and am so happy that Asia saw blue yesterday. Hope that the strips will arrive soon. Did you order syringes, too? NY State requires a prescription for syringes. Once ADW has it on file, you don't have to get it recertified. I hope the new vet turns out to be really good. If you like the practice, would you let me know? Rusty doesn't have a vet in the city and it might be a good idea for him to get one. (We lived in Brooklyn when Stu was alive).

Have a great day. Maybe more blue today?

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) replying on today's thread. I haven't ordered syringes from them, I got them from a local pharmacy and have 2 refills. Do you think I need my vet to send a script to ADW to order from there?

Also hoping this new vet works out, it would be amazing! I will definitely let you know what I think. That is too funny, we are looking for a new vet because we just moved from Brooklyn in August. Wasn't thrilled with the vet we had there, but they were decent enough and very close (a huge concern because Asia gets car sick and doesn't travel well since losing her hearing).

Beautiful run last night! That's a sizable "double-dip" Grab another test at +1 to see where she's going before heading out.
Definitely doing that, doubt it will give me any peace of mind though! if she's not going down yet, I'll be wondering if that happens while I'm away and how drastic it will be, and if she is going down, I'll be wondering the same thing.

Boing boing, Asia! Hope this is a bounce, it settles quick, and the numbers last night and earlier today are more reflective of what this dose can do for her

Is there any rhyme or reason when the insulin seems to take hold very quickly (say 1 hour after a dose) and peak earlier in the day (+3) vs later (+7)? Is that all part of new dose wonkiness or why else would she flip flop between peaking at +3 and peaking at +6,7,8ish? Dosing error (fur shot)? How much she ate that day vs another day? Because: cat? o_O

Ok Asia let's show your mama bean what you can do. Let's clear that bounce pronto;)

Cats are cats! I have seen different nadirs one day to next. That's not new dose wonkiness. I can find you the sticky that explains that concept better.

Thanks, I have read the sticky about new dose wonkiness, but if you know of something that talks about the nadirs moving around, I'd love a point in the right direction.

@Bobbie And Bubba, is there anything to explain why a cat may nadir early one day and late the next day? I know Bubba had different nadirs for each FD journey.
Nope, no reason other than she is a cat, LOL. Not trying to be flip but, since Asia has only shown us her patterns since early Oct, we don't really know her patterns yet. She could nadir early one day and later another day but until there is some more data to see a pattern, it is just speculation. Let's see what her pattern unfolds to us to see what is what. AND even after that, they ( the Kitties ) can change the game plan. But, it might be a bit too early to know her pattern yet and we just have to go with what she gives us and try to anticipate.

I don't like the because: cat answer, but I guess part of the reason we love cats is because they are quirky and unpredictable. :cat:

Totally get the it's too early to see her pattern, I guess I'm just trying to play detective and figure it out before she fills in all the blanks for me. :p I will feel better when I have an idea of what she does (even though she will inevitable throw me a curveball, many of them) because as of now, any time I leave her alone I'm pretty stressed over it.

She will reveal a pattern to you. BUT know that she can change the pattern at any time. This is Bubba's 4th rodeo on insulin. For the first 2 he was an late nadir cat which means that his lowest point in the cycle is his pre shot numbers. The rodeo # 3 he seemed to be a mid cycle nadir and now this rodeo # 4 , he is an early nadir cat ( only sometimes.......) :blackeye: and the rest of the time he is mid cycle. My point: Don't trust a cat! Do your best with the data you have and that is all you call do!

Well that's reassuring  sounds like Bubba likes to keep you on your toes! ;)

"Don't trust a cat!" Truer words have never been spoken!

Thanks for the insight. Going to have a talk with Asia about consistency, she listens, sometimes!

When you place an order for syringes they will call you and tell you to have your vet fax them a script. So wait until
you are ready to place an order.
Did you get your strips yet?
