Still stuck in some high numbers, depending on how today goes, dose increase to 1.5 tonight seems like the thing to do?

Asia woke up with tons of energy and was being spaz cat all over the apartment this morning! Yay! She's also back to being very talkative, which is awesome.

I may have lucked out and found a new vet. I was doing some searching today and found a place that's pretty close, treats cats only, has diabetes management and senior care as part of their services, and best of all...
in patient resources they link to this board! :woot: That's got to be a good sign they know what's up with diabetes and TR, right? I'm excited, going to see if I can make myself an appt and interview the doctor before I bring my little old lady cat there and put her through the stress of traveling and a vet visit.

I'd let the cycle play out and see how low she gets. She's coming down right now. If it stays above 200, then go ahead and increase 0.25u.

That's awesome about that vet!! :cat:

New vet sounds like they might be a good one :) Agree that if you don't see a low blue (which would be green on a human meter) or green today it's time to increase.

Waiting for the human strips still. ADW emailed me and said my shipment was on hold yesterday, I had to call and verify my address because I'm a new customer. Hopefully it will get here soon enough so I don't have to spend another $55 on AT strips waiting for them.

It always makes me smile to hear that she is feeling playful.:)

Sounds promising:)

It does, I'm trying not to get my hopes too high, but the practice has nothing but stellar reviews online. I supposed they might think I'm a nutter for booking myself an appt to "vet" the vet, but they were completely cool with it. Will see them this Friday; if all goes well, I will have a new vet. I will ask them how they heard about this board and try to track that person down and send them a "you're awesome!" Thank you card!

Numbers are coming down slow and steady, this is about the time she starts creeping (or blasting) back up, so if 264 is her lowest for today, I will increase to 1.5 tonight. Ordered digital calipers and will figure out how to use them. The half of a half doses (.25 increments) are so hard to eyeball and I don't feel like each dose is the same as the last. If nothing else, got a new tool for the tool collection, I'm sure it will be useful elsewhere.

Was planning to increase to 1.5 tonight, and her numbers are over 200 all day, but her pattern today was unlike previous days and her PMPS was not low, but much lower than expected. Still increase? Or what another cycle and see what's happening?

This is pretty new for her, have a blue post shot has only happened once before. I'm going to be up a lot tonight making sure it doesn't go too low...but I'm cautiously optimistic she's going to have some better numbers for a spell!

She vomited once (clear and small amount) and did a lot of scooting and had a tiny loose stool this evening, appetite is still great. Have to keep an eye on that. My guess is side effects from convenia injection she had right before being diagnosed. We thought she had a UTI, found out she was diabetic from that bloodwork, but they treated her for UTI before the culture came back (it was negative this time). Last time she had convenia was around Christmas (UTI) and she had a spell of diarrhea and vomiting a few weeks later which I'm pretty sure (in hindsight) was a side effect from the antibiotic. I wish there were a better one to give her, but it's the only thing she can do because I can't pill her or get compounded liquids in her mouth. Her mouth is the only spot she's sensitive about; she may be geriatric, but she is very strong when she wants to be and she's not having anything put in her mouth. :(

Just seeing this and am so happy that Asia saw blue yesterday. Hope that the strips will arrive soon. Did you order syringes, too? NY State requires a prescription for syringes. Once ADW has it on file, you don't have to get it recertified. I hope the new vet turns out to be really good. If you like the practice, would you let me know? Rusty doesn't have a vet in the city and it might be a good idea for him to get one. (We lived in Brooklyn when Stu was alive).

Have a great day. Maybe more blue today?
