I know that Chase can go pretty low, but the only LC meal I'm giving him is the very first one in the morning and the very first one in the evening, which is when his numbers are usually in the high blues (he also gets LC for his +9 snacks). But the rest of his meals, for the most part, have been MC. I want to bring his numbers down but can't figure out how because with only 0.1u his +3 number goes pretty low... and that's with MC food.

@Marje and Gracie ... didn't you say, somewhere, that perhaps I would want to give him MC all the time and then see about upping the dose? That seems scary, but would it be ok if I gave him MC all the time for a few days and wait to see what his numbers are like with the 0.1u before I increase to the next dose. His later numbers usually look pretty good, but the AMPS and PMPS are still higher than they should be. I'm guessing his morning numbers may go up, at first, with the MC, but then again... the MC seems to almost always flatten him out if I give it early on, which I have been.

Happy Furday, everyone.

Hi Sandi

I'm helping another member right now and then have to get out the door. It when I get back later today, I'll look at his SS again and post some thoughts. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Sandi.

I thought I'd answer your question about Chase's sneezing here, rather than keep yesterday's condo going.

When is it time to get concerned?

The sneezing itself is just annoying, probably to him as well as to you. I'd get concerned if there were other symptoms, such as congestion (which usually makes them stop eating - cats won't eat what they can't smell), or producing a LOT of mucus.

Has there been any idea as to why he is sneezing? One of the causes could be a virus, like herpes, which is very common in cats. Do you give Chase L-lysine? Some vets feel it is effective in treating/preventing viral infections. In any event, it wouldn't hurt him. I used to buy 500 mg capsules (make sure L-lysine is the only ingredient) on Amazon and open it and mix it in with Cinco's food. He never noticed it, but then Cinco would eat just about anything I put in front of him. Since he's eating well now, I'm sure you're reluctant to mess with his food, but it's something to consider.

Thank you. He is sneezing less. :) I'll keep the L-Lysine in mind. :)

I would try and come up with a 10% food or combine foods for a 10% food and try to feed that consistently. With his numbers like they are, there would be room for a dose increase but with your work, I wouldn't want him in the 50s and you not be able to be there.

Did you test him last night when you skipped just so we know what his PMBG was?

I unexpectedly had to go to Tucson right after work, today, and had to skip Chase's shot. :( I realize there are going to be times that it just can't be helped. I have to take care of myself, too. I just hate to think that he may very well bounce more because of it.

14.25 (9:15 p.m.) was 138 It's in the subject line.

I had family in last week and couldn't really do a proper curve. I want to be home so I can test EVERY hour... right? I can pretty much do that tomorrow. I only have to leave for about an hour and a half to go to church.

@Marje and Gracie ... if I could pick one post shot time to be home in the morning, what should it be?

No...we do not test every hour on curves. Every two hours for 12 hours or every three hours for 18 hours.

BUT, you are doing TR and not SLGS. For TR, random spot checks throughout the cycle are best. Do different tests each cycle on the weekends.
