Yay for more blues for Phoebe! I hope you see more today. Good luck with the increase.
I am guessing that the "are 1/4" in your food column means ate 1/4 and does not mean 0.25R ;)

@Phoebes how did you decide to supplement with R? It must be quite a relief to get in to those blues. Nicely done! Jimmy and I started this journey in early April and are at 5 u already and have to see consistent blues. :banghead:

Phoebe has been going on insulin since jan. She is at 24 units 2x a day. There are tests that can be run for high dose kitties. Read the acromegaly/IAA stickie. Because she has been stuck in the yellow and pinks for so long, only under closest of supervision and recommendation did I start to even think about using the R. It's a very powerful insulin to only be used under the experts guidance. We are a testament to its abilities. Have you done the tests for high insulin dosage?

Haven't done the tests yet. When or if we get to 6u I need to regroup with our vet. I've read the stickies for acro/IAA. I keep revisiting them when he has a high number day. Glad Phoebes doing better!!

Fantastic!!

I should expect a bounce yes? Hopefully not a big one. What about her pmps? Or just wait til closer to it?
I don't know if she'll bounce or not. Hopefully the R squad will weigh in. Today was a Lantus increase, correct? So maybe tonight it will be suggested to do some R but, lets see what the R experts think.

I believe they said don't do R while starting new dose so guessing I will stay at the 24 units. But would I give full 24? Double digits is scary and exciting

Nice to see this on Phoebe's SS!

Even though it seems like a big increase to many of us, 2u is not that big of an increase for a cat at 24u. We've also seen that sometimes these high dose kitties will toss out a green cycle here and there (sometimes with an increase) and then eek back up.

If you can be around to test tonight, I'd suggest leaving the 24u dose and see how she does. Some of the high dose moms let kitty get into green but reduce at a number higher than 50 (if they are going TR) and I don't know if one of them has discussed that with you or if you have a number in mind. Of course, you can also reduce if you have a cycle with numbers that you have to poke, carb, poke, carb, etc.

As far as shooting R tonight, let's see where she goes. If she bounces up into pink or higher (anti jinx), you might want to give a .25u dose as tonight will not be her first dose at 24u. If she's headed up into those high numbers by +9, you could even give that small dose of R then to keep her PMPS from being too high. Then at PMPS, you'd just give the 24u.....or, if the R brought her way down, tweak the 24u down for that cycle. You have options.

I used R and would not give on the cycle of an increase unless there was a bounce starting towards the end of the cycle. But, Gracie was very low dose.

Of course, I will say my opinion is easily outweighed by one of the high dose moms that have been working with you.

Go away for part of the day, and look what I missed! Go Phoebe.:D

Green is the goal. You got some gorgeous nadirs today, but still high green. It took 24 units to do it so I would stick to it. Let's hold off on the R cause monitoring isn't as easy for you to do at night time. Unless she gives you something really ugly at PMPS time. Maybe do a +11 test and post for advice if it's quite high.

Marje is spot on. We don't know what high dose condition Phoebe has, but it's very common to see a spot of green and then have it disappear. I called it "the dose going stale". Neko first saw green at just over 3 units, then it kept going away, partly due to her IAA, and possibly also her acro tumour putting out more growth hormone. She didn't get a first reduction until her dose almost tripled.
In the mean time, let's celebrate Phoebe's first green!

Glad Wendy posted on the R because she's worked with you more than I have. Shooting R at night or even late in the day cycle can mean extra monitoring at night. Julie and I found that when the R brought the numbers down and gave the L a lower place to start, the subsequent cycle could be busy.

Thank you Marje, by the double digits being scary I meant the 86 :) happy to see it. Phoebe could care less. She's not eating as well as she has, but I know that could be from lower numbers. She's more hungry this evening. Just got a 101 at + 8.5. So no R yet. Ty for your feedback. Will be looking for as much help as possible. Everyone routing for Phoebe makes me cry with joy. It makes all this so much less scary. I know she is in the best hands possible.

You're welcome and we are all happy for you. Boy for all of us, those first double digits are :nailbiting: I can only imagine with a large depot! You'll get addicted to those numbers. :D

I chatted with Wendy and the situation I remembered about a higher reduction point was long ago and a different scenario.

Therefore, following TR, her reduction point is below 50. Sound good?

So no reduction unless she goes below 50?

"Generally" that is correct. I say "generally" because sometimes when the depot is really full and you are fighting to barely keep numbers up above 50, it can be smart to reduce.

The intent is to follow the TR protocol and reduce when she goes below 50 but there may be an extenuating circumstance here or there which would make reducing sooner a possibility. There is usually someone around to help you figure that out.
