Franky hasn't had insulin in awhile and I'm hoping this is remission. She's been doing pretty good. Should I keep testing twice a day? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!
My cat hasn't had a shot since the morning of the 27th I was wondering the same thing, Is she in remission her #'s have been in the low 100's haven't gone over 160 and this morning 84. I am praying and hoping so.Franky hasn't had insulin in awhile and I'm hoping this is remission. She's been doing pretty good. Should I keep testing twice a day? I use the Alpha trak 2, yes I will keep testing and she does have a vet check up soon here where they will do a blood test to see how regulated she is.@Jody Banta You need to have readings within normal range for a period of 14 consecutive days to assume remission. Not sure what meter you are using but for a human meter, normal would be between 50 & 120. The odd reading over 120 (up to roughly 145 for allowed meter variance) would be Ok but without being able to see the pattern or how often you are seeing 160, it's impossible to say for sure. I'd keep testing to see if those slightly higher numbers start dissipating or only occur periodically. Sounds like you are close! Good luck!
up date on mittens went to the vet had a Frutosomine (sp) or also called A1C test in humans which anything under 300 is good well hers was 251 which means its well controlled and she may be reverting into a non-insulin dependent state, remission!! they told me to keep doing what i am doing, and to only give her a shot .5 units if its 200 or more. Last nite I was worried cause her sugar was 174 and I didn't give her a shot usually i would but then this morning it was down to 130 all on its own, so Yeah! she hasn't had a shot now sence the evening of June 6th.Well then Mittens may very well be in remission!
