Fergus hit 108 today at PMPS.
We are 4 cycles in to a steady 1.5 u dose. We would be 8 cycles in but I had a skip and a missed dose in there.

So I tested, he ate and I shot it. It was a little (few minutes) late due to tornado sirens. Luckily, those passed over us (prayers for those hit) and we got our BS check and dose in. It took him a minute to chill and eat which was part of the shoot delay. Given the lower number, I wanted food in him. Shot was maybe close to 20 min off.

We did it. I had to pill him too. He dislikes that. One of them makes him drool a lot if he doesn't get it in and he started the day in the sink for a wash up, He did not appreciate that after getting pilled by DH last night. So we did a quick clean up after and seems he is still my friend now, since he wandered out after a good hide and meowed a "hi" at me.

So I am comfortable doing my "becoming our norm" +6 check. Any advice on doing anything else. I am trying to overcome a huge fear of shooting at a low. BUT I READ AND READ AND it was not a miss or lower the dose situation. So I prayed and pulled the trigger.

MUCH LOVE you all the SUGAR MAMAS and SUGAR DADDIES chilling with their SUGAR KITTENS tonight. I hope everyone is well and safe or has all the comfort and support they need.

I am so grateful to have found this board. It is truly an island in a big old scary ocean of FD.

Congrats! Do you get a +2 or +3 to see if it woud be an active cycle? That usually tells you what to expect for the next few hours.

I just did a +3 it was 74.... Yikes. Not thrilled. He has cat food out and is nibbling.

What is an active cycle?

active cycle is what you are having tonight - there will be lowering further the cycle.
Feed him a little and retest in 45 min. Would you be able to update the SS?
The 74 is nice and safe but you need to be sure he stays there hence little snack/LC meal is good. Not too much - you will need his appy for later on.
More testing might be needed depending on what you read in 45 min.

I tested at 0009.
I don't know what it is, sorry...
Should I test every hour till +6?
Depends on your last reading - if he lowers feed a little, retest in 30 min. Once you have him stable - not lowering without food for two hours - you are safe.
If you get readings that show him lowering - give him some food and retest until you know he "floats" around safe numbers. The 74 is safe number but because it is too early and long before nadir he will lower more. By feeding/testing you sequre his safety. Why a little food and not too much - to keep him around safe green numbers longer; the too much food stops insulin.
DH is updating SS for me.
There is 94 in the +3 cell - I thought you said it was 74?

So we are at +4 and he is 54. Acting ok. Offering more food
offer something like MC or HS - higher carbs content. You need to aim at bringing him up 10 - 20 points and hopefully keep him there.
If you have honey and he is not allergic - top his reg food with 1/2 tsp honey.
The 54 is a little too low for at +4 - still early hours of the cycle.
Feed, retest in 30 so you can know how he responded.

0009 is nine minutes after midnight. 1209 AM EST for me.

94 is for a different day.

+5 was 74. He is not happy with me. Not wanting to eat and NOT liking the honey. But I just put it in his mouth.

So, he is 74 at +4.5 - 20 points up which is very good and safe number.
The honey will wear off soon. You will need to test in 30 min after that 74, and post it

Do you have MC or HC food that he likes? Anything at all? There are way to wake up an appy in cats - like a little Parmesan Cheese on top of his meal.

If he doesn't eat, and the tests show him lowering close to 50 keep putting a little honey on his gums and test. Honey will prevent him going too low in case he refused to eat.

Sorry just rechecked the board. I was waiting to 315 for +6. He is asleep I have not feed him anymore.
I think it is wise to check the BG now after that 54. I used to test while my cat was asleep all the time - even better her ears were warm - easier to get the sample.
Being 54 is too close to the danger zone. He snacked 45 min ago. I really think it is good idea to test. Some cats go Hypo without symptoms.
Safety first I say.

You mean+5.

Hi my phone died. Apologies. I tested at +6 0306 EST. He was 70. I rubbed a finger coated in honey on the roof of his mouth. I remembered we had kibble he liked. Royal Canin i/d. So I gave him about 15 or more pieces . He wanted up and out of the bedroom. Hopped off the bed and scratched at the door. Maybe a potty break maybe because I was bugging him, I dunno. When I said "hey you can't do that." When he scratched at the door he looked up and meowed back, so I let him into the rest of the house. He seems good. Thanks for following along.

He is happily rating the kibble. I gave him around a 1/4 of a cup total. He ate all the first and is eating the rest now. The has wet food too. I got him from the living room. He is now in the bedroom with me. He just started scratching to go out again.

He is 68 at a little over +6.5 and just finished kibble prior to check. I know he is low but it should be holding with the high carb kibble in now. I am going to let him chill a bit and check around + 8.

Thanks for staying up with us. Just wanted to let you know that his AMPS was 249. That carby dry kibble cat food is something else.

Tanya you're the best. Hope you got some sleep ❤️ I just saw you are in Cali. Hope it is a beautiful day ☀️

Thanks for popping in Tricia, to check on us. Enjoy those new kittens.
