Blitzen's mom

Member Since 2017
After 28 months Blitzed is out of remission.
His bg at the vet was 426 , I cracked down on the diet and when I tested him at home 2 days later he was at 145.
I just picked up his Lantus and it say 2u but I will test him tonight to see what he should get as 2u might be way too much.....I'm think 1/2u

I have to be honest I swore I wasn't going to treat him but I just could not do it. There will be time he will have to skip shots for a day or two , won't be often but probably once a month.
My hope is that he goes back into remission, the first time around he went into remission in 6 days....paws crossed.

Welcome back! Will you be setting up a spreadsheet like the one we use here? Good thing you're testing - I'm sure experience has shown you how valuable it is. :)

Just so others can learn from this, what kind of food was he eating when you say you "cracked down on the diet"? Hope you can get him quickly back on the wagon!

He eats FF classic and FF grilled, I've taken away the grilled. He also got full bowl of YAZC but mixed with EVO to stretch it out. He still is getting YAZC but only 2 tbl a day . The kibble was fine and he went into remission while eating the small amount.
He is a nightmare when it comes to feeding, I've done everything from tuna water on food and probiotics sprinkle on it. Right now I have to hold his plate in order for him to eat. He is a very disruptive cat at night with his constant meowing, the older he gets the worse he is...... he is a handful but I love the big turd !

My remission kitty and civie were becoming that way probably with age like you said. One is 12 and the other 13 but flortiflora definitely made a huge difference in my case. I swear by it, it makes food more appetizing, it calms them, and they seem more content overnight.

Just wanted to say, my senior cat meowed at night too... turns out he had high blood pressure. we got that under control and he stopped 90% of the night time meowing. Try putting a book under the bowl so it's raised up. Might be more comfortable for him to eat.
