Perhaps try more than a drop. How about a teaspoon? @Wendy&Neko ?
I know you'd do the same for me! Ok Taffy, stop messing around here!Thank you for waiting with me!! Sweet dreams!!
We will be at +5 in seven minutes (and next test)What + time are you at now?
Lol got on the board late this morning. Been out for a Frosty walk with the droolers and feeding the chucks. The Spanish contingent is here to the rescue! I leave you in good hands. Paws crossed that next test is above the line.
Hey Taffy - UP!!!
Nice to see him over 50, the syrup can have a tendancy to wear off, if his appetite is good, then maybe give him some higher carb low carb? Or add a drop of syrup to his raw. Not much wiggle room with that 55.+5 = 55
Could be due to all of the syrup, but we're up a bit! Liking 5s, apparently
No, he had a =20min @ 41, then another +20min @ 42 (after the 39)Last test was 39 right?
Test him 20 min after that.
Yes, we cross postedYay. Taffy! Now you can give him just a little LC to see if we can get him to surf. Test in 30. Gill, you think she needs to add a drop of syrup?
I'll try, but I don't think he will eat anything more. His tummy sounds churny from all of the gravy and syrup.Yay. Taffy! Now you can give him just a little LC to see if we can get him to surf. Test in 30. Gill, you think she needs to add a drop of syrup?
Thank you! Good night! The Spanish contingent is here to the rescue! I leave you in good hands. Paws crossed that next test is above the line.
Hey Taffy - UP!!!
I'll try a canned he likes, but I think he is not going to eat more right now. Let me see...Lol got on the board late this morning. Been out for a Frosty walk with the droolers and feeding the chucks.

Ok so still low, thanks.No, he had a =20min @ 41, then another +20min @ 42 (after the 39)
If he won't eat, perhaps you could give him 20 min and recheck BG, just to be sure he is staying up.I'll try a canned he likes, but I think he is not going to eat more right now. Let me see...
Yes, it normally does take him a bit to respond.am i right in thinking that you've noted that it takes him a little longer than the average cat to respond to carbs?
Actually, Gill, Jill informed me not long ago that dry does not take any longer to affect BGs than canned. It does, however, stay in the system longer. If he eats the kibbles, as they are dry, it may take a while for him to respond,
I know I remember, I just don't think I necessarily agree, my reasoning being that when George has sicked up on a very rare occasion, after about an hour or two of eating his kibble breakfast, the lumps were still pretty solid, where as, when he has done that after eating wet the sick is not recognisable as food. To me, rightly or wrongly that suggests the food is taking longer to digest and therefore longer to absorb.Actually, Gill, Jill informed me not long ago that dry does not take any longer to affect BGs than canned. Julie, if you haven't already given him something, it's up to you if you'd like to try not feeding and testing in 20, or feeding and testing in 30.Never mind. We cross- posted.
Yay! No more food and see where he is, did he eat the kibble?68...that's better. Now I can wait 30 minutes to test, right?
Yeah, I didn't agree, either, but I got called out on it, so....know I remember, I just don't think I necessarily agree
I think so, now. Before Taffy proved how stubborn he could be, I didn't, but now, based on the reasons Wendy gave, I think you should. The worst that can happen is he fails the reduction. Better safe than sorry. So, as Wendy mentioned, should I reduce the dose again tomorrow? (post #40) To 1 unit?
Yes, happily!! But just a few.did he eat the kibble?
That's okay. That's enough.Yes, happily!! But just a few.
That's okay. No food and one more test. You can nap for an hour, and if that test is the same or higher, call it a night.Sorry, I got cold and put a blankie over myself and dozed off!!
So now I got his +6 = 65
Pretty much the same as last test, which was 47 minutes ago
He may have one heck of a bounce tomorrow, and possibly some diarrhea from all that syrup. Or not - he is a cat, after all.I think he is at least holding, though. Setting my alarm for the next test.
Yup, we were posting the same thing, pretty much! That's okay. No food and one more test. You can nap for an hour, and if that test is the same or higher, call it a night.
I am thinking the upset tummy, for sure. Hopefully not too bad.He may have one heck of a bounce tomorrow, and possibly some diarrhea from all that syrup. Or not - he is a cat, after all.![]()
That's what we're here for!Thank you so much for staying with us! It is fantastic to have company and support during these late night nail biters!
So, as Wendy mentioned, should I reduce the dose again tomorrow? (post #40) To 1 unit?
Thank you for the help and company! Taffy is in his snuggle bed and I am setting the alarm for the next test. I think we are coming up out of the deep, finally.I know I remember, I just don't think I necessarily agree, my reasoning being that when George has sicked up on a very rare occasion, after about an hour or two of eating his kibble breakfast, the lumps were still pretty solid, where as, when he has done that after eating wet the sick is not recognisable as food. I also think of it in terms of sport nutrition, a dry energy bar will sustain you longer than an energy drink, but the energy drink will boost your BG much quicker than the bar.
That's just my opinion though, maybe my logic isn't sound.
Yay! No more food and see where he is, did he eat the kibble?
I'll see you then.Thank you for the help and company! Taffy is in his snuggle bed and I am setting the alarm for the next test. I think we are coming up out of the deep, finally.
thank you! sweet dreams!Julie, I'm going to go to bed now. I have a cold and a doctor appointment in the morning. But Gill will be checking back to make sure Taffy is done with dramatics for tonight. From the looks of things, he just wants to sleep,too!![]()
Oh, dear! Get some rest! Hope you are feeling better soon! Thank you, again.I have a cold and a doctor appointment in the morning.
I think he'll be ok now seeing as it's 2hrs since you last have HC, bit if it makes you feel better to test at +8 that's ok.+7 = 73
Looks like he is holding. Not coming up fast, but not going back in the other direction.
Alarm again in an hour.
Well done you.+8 = 87
I think I'll try to catch a couple hours now and I'll get him at +11
Thank you, Gill, and have a lovely evening.
