Not a happy Bean right now. But it is what it is.

Boomer ate all of his foods last night but needed a fresh treat crumbled on top of the +9 before it was palatable

Yesterday we were able to get out for a walk to my favourite birding spot. As we were getting out of the car we ran into a fellow photographer who told us not to waste our time, there was nothing around. sigh. I had really been hoping for a Bald Eagle. We decided to walk anyways but stopped first at a deck that overlooks the river. Our friend the Muscovy duck (picture posted a few days ago) was still there and accepted some peanuts from DH. I saw a different duck in the water; unidentified for right now but it looked a lot like a female mallard but wasn't so I'm thinking possibly an American Black Duck but will have to ask my birding experts. Anyways, we left the deck and as we were standing there deciding which way to go I noticed a large hawk sitting high up so we headed that direction. And I found trees full of Robins (I know some stayed here during the winter but I've never seen one here in winter let alone 50), two kinds of woodpeckers, some chickadees, a white breasted nuthatch, and a new bird (for me) which was very hard to capture, she certainly didn't stay still for more than a second. This is a Golden Crowned Kinglet.

Hopefully Boomer just needs a little jump start. Such a lovely little birdie. I'm surprised there are any birds up there during the winter.
We actually have quite a few birds winter over; Robins, Starlings, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Sparrows, Blue Herons, chickadees and nuthatches, etc. And some, like the Snowy Owl, migrate into our area in the winter.

I hope the dosecrease helps bring Boomer's numbers back down. Aren't you glad you didn't listen to your fellow photographer. I wonder how he missed all those birds? Great picture.

Love the picture! ...we also have quite a few wild turkeys at the moment. And that's one animal that I hate encountering on our walks. My dogs have actually had some nasty run-ins with them. My 70-pound dogs. On 6-foot leash. And the turkeys were the aggressors.

....and I hope that Boomer heads back down with the dosecrease.

We see wild turkeys occasionally in fields. A couple of times we saw adults with babies either crossing the road or just having crossed it. I've never run into one within the city though.

Boomer, momma means business so start working the juice!

Very nice photo, Judy. How neat that you saw that many Robins in the tree. Wonder if it's a indication of a milder winter?

That sounds logical to me although the experts are saying it's going to be a nasty winter. I know the Robins have stayed in past years I just had never been in the right spot at the right time I guess. But there were probably 50 of them in this one little area of the park!

A friend of ours had an aggressive turkey in his yard for many years. "Mr. Gob" took a dislike to the UPS delivery man, who, after one scary encounter, refused to come to the door and left packages out on the road!

Many birds flock in winter. Are you on the lake? That would modify the weather a bit.

Our turkey family was here in the fall for about 6 weeks, but has left for friendlier climes.

Work that new dose, Boomer!
