Good morning all,
Yesterday received beautiful snow fall of nice testimony in regards of the FDMB members and their solidarity / support between each other. This was a warm touch for all of us. Even Small Kitty was touched as he brought up a beautiful green as a Christmas gift. Lucky me he raised allowing me to give him his shot.
Thanks to Carla, she reminded me of this the lowest level he reached (81) was set for a reduction.
But... I gave Small Kitty his reduced shot right away as both kitties started to be impatient after waiting 1h.
Right after supper I went on with reading to demystify the pet meter vs human meter in the application
of the SLGS strategy. Finally, after searching in my old documents I put my hand on what I was looking
for, the research study document that was the base of human insulin administration :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Management of Diabetic Cats with Long-acting Insulin Kirsten
By : Roomp, MSc, Dr rer nata , Jacquie S. Rand, BVSc, DVSc, MANZVS, DACVIMb, *
*If a serum chemistry analyzer or plasma-equivalent meter calibrated for feline blood is used (eg, AlphaTRAK), the measurements at the low end of the range need to be adjusted and are 30% to 40% higher than for a whole-blood meter calibrated for human blood.
For example, a target value of more than 54 mg/dL (>3 mmol/L) becomes more than 72 mg/dL (>4 mmol/L)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what came up of their study and my original comparison back in
April comparing both human and pet meter.
So for yesterday Lowest level on AT2 level was 81 (4.5) witch translate into 99 (5.5) Human meter.
This means the same dose that brought Small Kitty at ground level is the right one.
The last reduction brought an avalanche of deceptions and regret after having to
go back to the previous dose, don't wan't to go back there. Hope decision is the
right one, for now I'll give some extra food to compensate.
I'm convinced this is the right decision, next days will tell if it's the case.
Wish you all a wonderful day (mine will be at the office shopping for cappuchino machine
)
