12/18 (lots a green last night! - weird jump between +3 & +3.5)

AMPS 262

6 days till Christmas!

Kitties play nice. Beans stay warm and safe in this cold weather!:bighug:

Nice surfing last night. I hope Gizmo heads back down today.
Morning Carla. Going to try and get Gizmo in for his blood work today he also needs his nails trimmed. He use to take care of them himself (either on his scratcher or the couches :banghead:) but he neglected them when he was so sick 4 months ago and now they are too long. When he walks they catch on the rugs. Drives me crazy. I know for a fact he does it on purpose sometimes for attention :joyful:.

He is up and active this morning, that usually means he is working the juice. I sure hope so.

Going to go get a quick shower.

Gizmo's blood draws is at 11am this morning! Yay. Gizmo's buddy tech (Bill) will be there and will do it (another yay!). Bill "speaks" Gizmo so I am always happy when he can do it.

Numbers will be high this afternoon no doubt. Poor baby just stresses so, so bad there. Hopefully a quick in/out. I hate that they have to muzzle him, but it is safer for the tech and for Gizmo. I think it is actually less stressful on him. It is a cool muzzle they use it covers the mouth and eyes and once it is on Gizmo just kinda goes limp and lays down (vs 5 min of fighting him and retaining him and getting bit and clawed). He truly is a terror at the vets.

Regular vet isn't in today but he has seen the other one (Dr. W). I am not sure if they will need to do a urinalysis but I told them to do all needed.

Gizmo is on the move, doesn't he see the stop sign now??? I can do front nails, but the back nails are tough for me. Tux is even super hard to do flea spot treatment, need 2 beans and hubby puts on leather work gloves. Today is his spa day (spot tx, nails, ears, whatever knots he might have, and an extra thing washing his neck to make sure all the ab is out of his fur). Each kitty has a spa day the day they get spot tx.

flea spot treatment
I gave Gizmo one - only one, flea treatment - when he was a kitten. It was like advantage (the one that is in a small tube that you put behind their neck). OMG you would have thought I had zapped him with a taser - he is sensitive to the the insulin too. He is a strictly indoor kitty so no further flea issues - so that was a one time deal. But he freaked out for about an hour trying to "get it off".

Tux is like that. I give it year round even though they are indoors.

Either way would be fine but watch him especially with a road trip to the vetty scheduled today.
Yep. I waited. Gimzo acted like he was "going to die of hunger" until the autofeeder turned. I have a few FD snacks I am taking - I am thinking maybe to take a small amount of LC food? Should I through in HC food just in case?

ETA - I am taking the meter and strips too.

He loves the drive over there and back. It is just being there that is the added stress.

+8 121 (very pleased with this number)!!

Back from the vet. I was in/out in less than 30 min including time to pay. They are running Chem 27 with IDEXX SDMA test. His weight was 11#'s - up from 9.8#'s on 10/18/16! I took my used syringes and they took them to dispose of (no charge)!

Gizmo is no worse for ware other than the attitude he currently has. Vet Tech Bill is a little beat up but assured me that the scratches were only "superficial". It happened when he was trimming Gizmo's nails.

While Bill drew the blood and trimmed his nails I got to catch up with a couple of the other Techs - Debra is another one that absolutely loves Gizmo. She was the tech that was there after hours when Gizmo had his first panc flare (2013). I got to show Debra, Bill and Libby the spreadsheet. They were so impressed. Debra even said that it is better than her cat :).

Liz (who is also a tech but is the office manager) was on the phone so I didn't get a chance to catch up with her but I will send her an e-mail this afternoon with another link to Gizmo's SS and update her (and wish her a Merry Christmas). Liz is the one that taught me how to test and loaned me the AlphaTrak meter to get me started.

Gizmo didn't see any vet - really no need. The bw is being sent to INDEXX and the results should be back tomorrow. No urinalysis was done - Tech Bill asked Dr. W if he thought they should and he didn't think it was necessary (fine by me!). Dr. Pratt will review them and email the actual results to me. I can call if I need to discuss any issues I might have.

I gave Gizmo a very small LC snack (teaspoon) at the vets and then when I got home I turned back the autofeeder and let him have his +4.5 snack (I figured he deserved it)

I tested the +8 before the snack.

Everyone keep their fingers crossed for good kidney number!

Work called right at shot time - the CIO needed a 1.5M PO cut. All kinds of issues with remoting in to work - contracts, yada yada. I was also in the middle of making dinner.
Worst possible timing. But it was the CIO - lol.

Bouncy bouncy.
