Glad Wendy popped in yesterday. I tend to be a little too conservative and with Lincoln that's probably not wise until you are consistently seeing better numbers. You might see that yucky NDW but hopefully it's short lived. Think blue and green buddy...you can do it.

Hope Savannah is feeling good today too!

@Doodles & Karen lol i am too conservative too so its all good... and i think he needs a stronger push to get him going.... so that is why i went for it ... Savvy continues to do better... everyone loved brekkie this morning... wild callings chicken... not a lick left anywhere

Eeeks, an increase on the 6th cycle where he's breaking the bounce. You might see greens today so watch him close! Easy now buddy, nice and steady.

did i screw up?
No - Lincoln's looking great!:cool: His bounce started the AM cycle of the 22nd, which makes today the 7th cycle. Of course, there is nothing really magic about cycle 6, we have seen some cats take longer than 6 cycles to break a bounce and as cats get used to lower numbers it takes less time.

well as scary as the low numbers are to me... thought we might see green today... but looks like the bounce has started already??? still 130 is the lowest he has gone since i joined here... taking that as a victory today... will still be testing regularly till my mind knows its a bounch

maybe a small food bump at +5 to +6, cause we have come down a little bit again.... i have him eating small meals throughout the day it just works better for him... the good thing is we are still in the blue

Ok i know he is 2 hours away from PM shot... but we have been in the blue for hours... i thought he would bounce by now and PM shot would be a no brainer... will be getting the +11... just looking for thoughts on his curve today

He's been nice a flat so if you have enough strips, HC food or at least honey/karo and can monitor I think you should shoot the 5.5u. Start off with a +1 & +2 test and go from there. It's almost TFS time for Doodles but I'll check back. If he goes down a little bit more that is common and called a "double dip" which happens with Lantus.

Beautiful blue surf today for Lincoln!!!

Hang 10 buddy!!!

A lot can happen in 2 hours.....Hopefully he'll continue showing off his surfing skills!

Let's get this bumped back up so it is at the top.

First, congrat's on a green! Lincoln hasn't seen one of those for a while. Hopefully he will start coming back up for you by shot time. It looks like you haven't shot a low blue or green yet. If no one else responds, I would consider going for a BCS(big chicken shot), around 2.5u. You could also stall a bit without feeding and test again in 20-30min to see if he is coming back up. I haven't followed Lincoln too closely and am still learning as I go with my furball. Do you have some high carb food or know if he likes syrup or honey in case he drops? I would definitely want to get a few tests in tonight regardless to make sure he doesn't try any funny stuff after today's nice looking numbers.

Hopefully some others can chime in before shot time.

I only remember one thing..."a green preshot is a gift" when we first were getting Doodles regulated. If you can monitor, and have enough strips with HC I think you should shoot the 5.5u. It could be a long night or he could bounce...wish my crystal ball was working. How are you feeling?

I am awake and got shows and coffee lol... and no plans for today or tomorrow...

He ate right after i took that +5 reading and it was either a LC or MC... its friskies chefs dinner and they sent me info saying
Purina® Friskies® Classic Pate Chef's Dinner: 1.9%

but they didnt give the rest of the info to interpret that but i have been feeding it to him for a while and it hasnt really spiked him

Ok so regardless of what the carbs are he's surfed on his own for the last 7 hours. I will be around to keep an eye on you for the next 3/4 hours before it's my nap time. Do you have enough strips and the HC food?

That 65 changes things, I would not shoot a full dose with him still dropping and limited experience with how Lincoln handles low numbers. That is a decent drop from an hour ago.
@Doodles & Karen what are your thoughts?

yes i can stall... havent fed him i normally do with his shot... should i hold off on food too so we arent just seeing a food spike

how soon do i retest? 15m?30m?

if he continues to drop do i eventually feed him?

15-30 minutes is the normal stall time, yes hold off on food until you test again. I would do 30min myself.

My guess is he might still drop a bit because it's been 7 hours since he had any food. 15 min probably won't make much of a difference but 30 min might to see if he's coming up on his own or still dropping. Is that good for you? If you feed LC now, you'd have to wait 2 hours before shooting because of food influence which would put you off schedule.

so ... i wait 30mins no food... what kinda raise do we wanna see.. would getting a number at 15 and 30mins be helpful?

super nervous here havent seen green in forever and never this low

I'd just wait the 30 min. I'm hemming and hawing because I'd hate for you to loose this great momentum but safety is always first. The other option is to feed and give a one time reduced dose of 50 or 60% which would be about 2.5/2.75u and start with the 5.5u tomorrow. He cleared the bounce today on top of an increase which can create momentum that may not happen normally. Even if you give a reduced dose you'll still need to monitor because of the depot. Does that make sense?

I don't think the 15min would be too helpful, and his ear could use a few minute break after today:)

The good news is it is at the end of a cycle and he will start coming back up soon. The question is what is a safe number to shoot for tonight.

sorry im so nervous... i am used to seeing teen numbers on my monitor and seeing low single digits is crazy unnerving to me

One thing I can guarantee is you always get a "do-over" or second chance with this dance so either way this goes it's OK :) I'll stand by and looks like Capt. Jack is too which is great.

Do you know how he responds to higher carb foods? Some cats are easier then others to get them to come back up from low numbers. I think I would want to see around 100 before considering sticking with the full 5 or 5.5u. There are only guidelines for shooting since all our cats seem to play by their rules. Sometimes with Jack I would give a 75% dose, what i call the little chicken shot.

I remember how nervous I was the first few times I saw greens or fast drops, this place and its members helped reduce a lot of anxiety. It does get easier each time!

No sorry's needed especially here. If you weren't nervous I'd be worried. Standing by for the next test. Lincoln will help with the decision. What is his normal feeding schedule like?

he responds to HC food... we had to clear the crunchies out cause if gave us such a problem before i knew better

normally he gets small meals at 0, +2, +5 and sometimes +9/+10 if they are all hungry...today it was just 0,+2, +5

63 30mins after i should have shoot
If you're up for it I say shoot because this is a break through. On the board if we encourage someone to shoot we stay with you for the night. I'm a little tired but can. You've mentioned in the past that he's a good eater so if you need him to eat will he?

63 30mins after i should have shoot
Hmmm, he doesn't seem too interested in coming up, that is pretty much the same as the last test.
You can continue to stall, same as before, no food. Like Karen mentioned though it can mess up the shot and feeding schedule for a few days.

I'm thinking tonight might not be a good night to give the full dose, starting that low doesn't leave much room for dropping.

yes he will eat unless i over stuff him like i did the morning i went out for my birthday... then i got a look like mom im so full... but yes hasnt eaten in hours will eat easily right now

Since this is the first time you've had the chance to shoot this low, I'd go with the BCS.....maybe 2.75

But be sure to get a +1 and +2 (might even want to get a +0.5)

All the data you get will be useful....even if he bounces again tonight, you'll learn more about how he does when you shoot a BCS instead of the full dose

Safety first
