AMPS for Rom today is 21.0 (378).

I agree - giving it a few months will tell you whether it will work for Rom. I don't think there are any "miracles" when dealing with FD, just easier to regulate kitties. Some of us have 'em and some of us don't. I also know that there are rigid rules in the UK about what insulins can be prescribed. Lantus works really well for many cats and is the first choice of most vets here in Canada. Teasel was started on Lantus but it didn't really work that well for him. He was bouncy, got stuck in high numbers ( aggravated by the depot effect), became insulin resistant and went into DKA after a 48 hour withdrawal of insulin in an attempt to restart him. After that harrowing time he was switched to ProZinc. I'm the only client in a very large vet practice that has her cat on ProZinc. It hasn't even been a week yet!! I guess I was just expecting a miracle!! Caninsulin certainly wasn't consistently lasting long enough, and I have no desire to go back to it. I will give this a whirl for a good few months before I go back to the vet. I did get an agreement from her that if ProZinc didn't work, she would approach the RVC for advice about changing to Lantus, which is what I want really.

Yes, Frankie is doing really well on Lantus!Well, neither of my kitties are easy to regulate. Frankie is mostly regulated now on Lantus which is why I want Rom on it too, although it took nearly 18 months before seeing the numbers I currently am with Frankie.
Hi Debbie,Good morning, I am sitting here reading this as I was going to ask what is the most used (best ) insulin for cats. My Skylar is on Vetsulin and was doing well but now her numbers are getting higher and I am getting concerned.

Sue, it is 'early days' with the Prozinc, so it may yet work out for Rom. ...But it's good that your vet is willing to consider Lantus if the Prozinc isn't effective. And there is always Levemir of course...Well, neither of my kitties are easy to regulate. Frankie is mostly regulated now on Lantus which is why I want Rom on it too, although it took nearly 18 months before seeing the numbers I currently am with Frankie.
