You are getting to be a pro at this already! Please don't give any insulin until @Wendy&Neko has had a chance to look at the latest numbers and given some more advice on dosing. You don't want to pull an all-nighter (although it has happened). I can't hang around too much later as it is past 11pm here, but I'll stay to see the next number. Once you are through this we can get you all set up for the future.

Thank you so much, you have been incredibly awesome and I hope I can return the favor to someone someday. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

When do you stop giving small amounts of food? Should I stop now and see where he goes now that his numbers are rising again?

Keep going  I have to leave now but will check back when I get up to see how things are at that point. He is holding his numbers with the food and is past the lowest point of the cycle but nowhere near a shootable number yet, plus he had extra food earlier, you could try just monitoring but be ready to intervene if he is dropping again. Good luck!

Please don't give any more food unless Joe goes below 68. You want the two hours before your next preshot to be food free. High carb can influence the numbers for up to two hours so if you feed after 10 hours, your pretest will be food influenced and you may not know if it's safe to give insulin.

I didn't know that. I read that you can also use maple syrup, is that true? I had been keeping that on hand until today when I bought the Karo at the store.
Yes you can use maple syrup--if you are in dangerous numbers use whatever you need to in order to get kitty safe-
Dre used to come right up with a little HC food-now after a long time of testing etc... I know if he isn't coming up fast he is ready for a reduction soon.
3 units seems like a bit high to start .... I am no expert so I will not advise but maybe the experts can offer some advice on the dosing.
Dre is 19 pounds and we started at 1 unit BID-
He is a diver so it was good to have lots of data.....

Can you shoot half an hour later tomorrow and still be on schedule? You may want to delay tonight's shot until two hours after the last feed. Numbers in the 100s are very safe and healing for the pancreas.

Hi Wendy-
So you're saying give him 3.75u two hours after he eats tonight and then delay tomorrow's shot by 1/2 hour? Do I understand that correctly?

Oh my, congrats on catching your first hypo event it and bringing him up. I just got home from Philadelphia and saw this but it looks like you were in really good hands.

Starting on even 3 units seems a big dose as well. Most cats start off around 1 - 1.5 units. How large is your cat? If you start posting in Lantus the peeps there can help you with dosing. I am inclined to say that the dose needs to be reduced even further than 3.5. But lets' see what others say. When you post in Lantus, could you copy this thread and attach it?

Using the spread sheet will really help and if you need any help setting it up, just yell and some one can assist you.

ETA If you are available your input would be appreciated Bobbie :bighug:
