Last week's panic-ridden blue post that ended well with green
After a stressful hour last week waiting for Ivana to drop out of the blues from a food spike, I made sure to wait until well after The Princess had eaten this morning to test her. Sure enough, green she was
No real news to report, except that we have a sick little chicken at the moment - Brandy, who we adopted from our neighbour about 6 weeks ago, has peritonitis
If you know anything about chickens, you know that they hide their symptoms of illness until they're pretty much dead, so as soon as she displayed abnormal behaviour she was off to the vet. We were really worried as we've lost a few chickens in the past to peritonitis and egg-binding, and none of ours who have had her symptoms actually pulled through. Even the vet warned us to be prepared. So we're amazed and ecstatic that a week after she fell ill, she's still with us and feeling much better! Three different medications twice a day, being separated from the other birds, and sleeping inside with us seems to have helped, and she's still on antibiotics for another week. Here's a pic from last night of Ivana showing Brandy what she thinks of her (hubby had just finished giving Brandy her meds):
Hope all kitties and beans are doing well
