After 2.5 mks honey, some MC, and 100mls lactated ringers.

What now?

Well, I slept to 11:30. Had to do job stuff-may have lost job due to technical problem. Long story don't ask.

Is it safe to shoot 11u at this late date.

TiTi looks good, and tested at a nice low blue # Will test again PMPS. Staying at 11units, most probable.
PMPS tested 148 131 148 74

+2.5 74

Seems low How do I handle it - feed her - add honey ?

Gave her 2.5 mls honey

I think 11 units is, perhaps , too much, or she doesn't clear her depot very well.

The two main things to consider are: can you shoot TiTi's NEXT (ie, her evening) shot 12 hours from now?

And do you have enough supplies on hand (high carb food, strips, etc) on hand if you need them?

Sometimes when you are as far off schedule as you are now, it can be difficult to work you way back to your regular shot times, and if that seems like it won't work for you, skipping her morning shot may be the best answer.

She'll bounce back just fine. We all have to skip shots here and there for one reason or another. If you do shoot now, then your evening shot is going to have to be in the middle of the night, and THAT may be harder to deal with than the effects of one skipped shot.

I don't have any h-carb food, and,, due to unforeseeen difficulties, I will not be able to purchase any.

It will drain her depot a bit, but so far TiTi has done well when you have skipped a shot she will get back on track before you know it.
Shooting now will mean you are looking at doing her next shot at 1am, that would be very difficult on you. I think skiiping and resetting your schedule is the best option. It will also give you a chance to recoup and get a break, you have been working very hard to keep her safe and you need to look after yourself too.

That makes sense to me.

This has not been a particularly reasonable week. Usually my schedule is far more regular.
Ok so I'll shoot 7 1/2 hours from now.

Titi seems to be doing remarkable well with this 11U.

Do you have any Karo or maple syrup, just in case you ever need to bump TiTi's numbers up?

With regards to your current shot situation, let's focus on that first. The ultimate decision is yours, of course, but as I mentioned, taking this opportunity to get back to a more comfortable shooting schedule may be the best approach.

The only question I have is when to test her today. Is it probably that her numbers wil rise? stay flat?
After this evening shot, will she bounce?

Yes, 7 1/2 hours from now

You could grab a test or two if you want, just for data-gathering purposes. Of course you definitely want to grab a test right before you shoot - your PMPS test.

Unfortunately we'll have to see what TiTi's liver has to say about bouncing...there's no way for us to know if she's going to bounce or not.

Yes, I know now how impportant that is.
Well, sems important to see if her levels rise.

I wish we had a crystal ball.:)
I like Amys suggestions of grabbing a couple of tests for data gathering purposes and of course that pmps

Her liver? Those values were good on her last set of tests. I did not realize that her liver is involved in the bouncing.

I wouldn't go too crazy with testing just to give yourself and TiTi a bit of a break, but a couple tests just to see what's what would be interesting to see!

Right. I will try to get them at times consitent with the other tests on other days. I do see some consiotency in the rise and fall of her numbers , based on the time of the test.

How does TiTi's lliver come into play in the bouncing?
Bu the way, TiTi is short for Nefertiti, "Queen of the Nile", since she is such a glossy, black kitty. But it was difficult to call her, "Here Nefertiti," so TiTi is for short.

I'm not the greatest at explaining the bouncing from the "technical" end, but basically the liver overreacts and dumps stuff into the bloodstream that results in the bounce. It's unrelated to actual liver function...I'm glad TiTi's is fine!

I'm taking @Sienne and Gabby (GA) because she is WAY better at explaining bouncing than I am!

YAYYYY!!!!!!!!!

I did not lose my job!!!!!!!!!

They fixed it for me. The server had blinked a few times and knocked me out., With no programmers on board, they were not sure they could fis it.

BUT THEY DID!!!!

Now I have a good long time to work to 9pm, so skipping this shot could not be better all around.
Whew!
Whew!
whew!

I'm glad you are all settled. One thing I don't see answered that I think is important is do you have karo, honey, or syrup to add to the food or sprinkle on her gums should she get low since you don't have any hc food? This is important..

Basically, the way bounces work is that the pancreas released glucagon, which is a hormone, when glucose levels are too low -- or BG levels drop too quickly, etc. Glucagon then causes the liver to release glycogen, which is a stored form of glucose. Because the net result is an increase in glucose, numbers can spike upwards.

OK . Makes perfect sense. You've told me this before; maybe now it has sunk in.
:)

I have honey, and genuine maple syrup. Honey has worked efficiently, and is so viscous, it doesn't run down her throat quickly. I insert it into the side of her mouth, a little at a time.

Ok, for Hc food, what should I buy?

for her ear owies, try picking up a tube of Neosporin Ointment with Pain Relief. Ointment is easier to manage than cream. The Pain Relief ingredient is the whole point of this, not the antibiotic.

I used to slather it on punkin's ear every night, wiping off basically all of it the next morning. Just enough is left to keep blood from soaking into the ear hair. The stuff is miraculous and heals the ear overnightl

I use fancy feast sliced or gravy lovers for hc though almost never need it. Max's favorite is Soulistic Triple Harmony but it's more expensive and only available at Petco.

Been using it, but sporadically. It sure makes a difference with pain. Sometimes I can't find it, but I can start packing it with the rest of my equipment.

Looking good !

One housekeeping item -

Please indicate how may hours since the previous shot todays PMPS was.
For example, if you shot at midnight last night, tested at +12 (noon) in preparation for the AM dose, skipped , then shot at 9:00pm - that was +21 (21 hours since the previous shot)
You document it like a stall (a very very long stall)

As it stands right now your ss reads that you skipped the AM shot, waited 12 hours, then shot your PM dose -
When in fact she went longer and still managed a very respectable PS of 148.
Big difference.
Particularly if any dose adjustment decisions need to be made in the next couple cycles.
Make sense?

Something tells me TiTi will be seeing green again real soon;)

This is exactly when I shot last before today's PMPS, :
I shot at midnight last night, tested at +12 (noon) in preparation for the AM dose, skipped , then shot at 9:30pm - that was +21 1/2 hours since the previous shot.
I do not know how to document this at all. Where to put +21 1/2, or how to doc it as a stall. It's now kinda late, I'm still in make-up sleep mode, and my learning ability has turned to slush.

Sorry. Feel free to doc it properly.

I, too am very pleased by TiTi's numbers today.

+2 1/2 TiTi is at 74. Isn't that a bit low?

It's a bit low for this early in the cycle. You might want to give her some food now, maybe a small drop of karo or syrup. If you had medium carb food around, I would suggest it. Or if you had high carb you could mix it half and half with low carb to get medium. Don't feed her too much, you want her to be a bit hungry.
