Last night she was at 52... then 55... and a few hours later 65. So we skipped her dose. this morning she is at 284. Her normal dose is 2u twice a day of prozinc. Should her dose be changed?

The idea is to get two shootable pre-shot numbers. She will run high this cycle because of the skipped shot and let's see what the reduce dose will do. The ProZinc forum is very small and a bit short handed right now. I am in Lantus but do have experience in Prozinc and I am helping out a bit. The really wise ones will be weighing in soon I am sure.

Eventually maybe you will want to get U100 syringes to help with these micro doses. You will need a conversation chart if you do use the U 100. Let us know and we will give you a link for it.

I will check her when I get home tonight and post it here. Hopefully I can get out a little early. Last night was crazy for a monday night.

Christie, do you leave any food out for DustBunny when you are at work all day? Might be an idea to leave a bit out just in case she feels the need although she'll probably stay higher today after that low yesterday.

Hey there, sorry for the delay in response I just got up. Yes, feed her and go ahead and shot her but I would reduce the dose by .25 since she gave you a number last night that you could not shot.

Yep, agree 100%! (Good work, Bobbie.;))

Well... I was late out of work again ( i swear people are ordering like its a friday!) soooo her PMPS is 326. so i guess another 1.5u dose tonight??
Yes, stay with the 1.5 and if you are really late tonight with the shot, be mindful that tomorrow's AM shot needs to be 12 hours later. You can do 11.5 with no problem if the AMPS is at least 200.

oh no im not late with the shot. Everyone at work knows my shot time and that I wont be staying at work unless the shot is covered lol. I literally gave my GM no wiggle room there. Im just usually off early enough to get at least a +9 reading or so, but this week has been hell. We just hired a new guy and I have been coming home with horrible migraines since...

There should be an "unlike button" for the migraine. yuck! Feel better.

Can you retest in 20 minutes without feeding and see if she came up to at least 200?

ETA: If she comes up to 200 you could feed and shoot.

Hope you saw my second post. I hastily posted the first one without suggesting stalling without feeding to see if she comes up. I need to leave now to take my mom to an appointment. Hope it works out that you can shoot if she is up to 200 before you leave. :)

Then you probably have to skip. Tonight, even if she is high, I would reduce the dose - maybe 1.25. She is likely to be high as the insulin should be long gone after the skipped shot.

You want a dose that ideally gives you 2 shootable numbers 12 hours apart. Hopefully a reduced dose will give you that.

Thanks for adding that Sue, I just got home and was coming back to add that to DustBunnies thread. :)

Try to make it a fat 1 unit which would make it closer to a 1.5 Here is a picture of what a .25 looks like.

ok BG was at 366 this morning! Im going to keep going with the 1.25u. The earliest I can do a curve will be sunday but I can only do it until about 5pm so it wont even have the full 12 hrs.

Don't feed her. Stall and wait 20 minutes to see if she will rise, often the anticipation of eating will raise her. Hopefully she will raise to 200 and you can shoot.

i cant... im about to leave for work... I have to be there by 930 every morning and in order to feed they all have to be separated for about 30 min.

All you can do then is skip. It's always better if you can get two shots a day 12 hours apart. But that said, better too high for a day than too low for a moment. Maybe you could build some extra time into your morning in case this happens again. She was very close to 200 and chances are she would have come up to 200 quickly. You are doing the right thing to skip since you have never shot that low yet. :)

Well I just got home and she tested at 277 after all day without insulin... its lower than i thought she would be at for not having insulin this morning...

well I was thinking about sticking with the 1.25 for a bit. if she is to low in the AM I will reduce to 1. At least tonight I can monitor how her numbers look since I dont have to work tomorrow.

1.25 on a higher preshot last night gave you a low amps today. Giving the same amount on a number 100 points lower tonight might drop her too low overnight?

I did just give her 1 u that night. I havent been able to get on and when I wanted to do an all day test on just the 1u my bf had a surprise trip (apparently 'we will be right back' means all day in his world). This morning I had to skip basically everything because of an appointment with my divorce lawyer. Will have to do the same again on Thursday morning. When I tested her tonight she was at 264. I know its still technically high BG but does it seem a little low for missing her morning dose??
