Sometimes it takes almost an hour to see the full effects from the food. We don't have enough data yet to know if that's the case or if Bubba is simply changing things up on us. I think getting a +11 would be a good idea today. Let's see if he continues to rise or dips again.

As far as a reduction goes... Libby and I have touched on the subject (especially because he usually drops lower at night), but would like to see how the rest of the cycle goes before making any recommendations.

okay, I'll get a +11 too. Hey why not? We have every hour today, lol. ;)

I am grateful I am home to deal with this today. Bubba is cool, he's getting his bloody little ears cleaned compliments of Forrest.

I think we're going to have to take a reduction, don't you?

He hit 51 fairly early in the cycle (for him). He did bump up easily with food, which is great because you know you can easily keep him safe, and you didn't even have to use gravy. But since he tends to drop more at night than during the day, a reduction is the way to go. I would shoot 4.75 units tonight, as long as he's shootable at that time. You'll want to monitor tonight too unless he starts to bounce. Tonight's cycle will still carry some effect from today's 5 unit dose, thanks to our friend the insulin depot, so he might still surf low tonight.

If he does bounce, don't worry, he has been clearing bounces pretty quickly lately so he'll be fine.

I won't be home at your PMPS either, but I should be where I can check in on my phone if you have questions.

Reduction sounds good. I did prop him again @+11 with the 64 he threw. If he is lower than 50, then no shoot, correct? Gotta get some more strips down to 40 and panicing ;)

I wouldn't shoot lower than 50 tonight, especially since he has already earned his reduction. You can stall and shoot later if you want. That's usually the most effective way to get some insulin in to keep the momentum. Somebody should be around to help, or you can review the Shooting Low Numbers sticky.

If you want help with what to do at shot time, change your subject title to 1/6 Bubba +12 xx - shoot? or something like that. That will let people know you need help making the decision on what to do.

Be good Bubba, a little higher to make it safe.

Okay Thanks Wendy. Hoping he is 50 and higher and we will go for it. Lower than that and I will need guidance.

Sounds good. That LC may have boosted him up a little bit, but I think some of that rise is Bubba on his own.

You also fed .75 oz LC (I presume the same stuff) at a couple of points mid cycle today and he just got a small rise from it.

Personally I'd get another test in around +3/ +4...he did have a lot of food (well kind of) toward the end of the cycle which could've caused the big +1 spike. He might come on back down in a few hours.

Looks like you are finally getting there Bobbie! Remember back in PZI land, you were wondering if it would ever happen. You did it! Well done! :bighug: :joyful: Love the picture of Forest and Bubba, awww...how cute is that!

that's not bad at all. He's usually going up at this time, so it's too early to say if he's bouncing or not. Probably a little bit, but I doubt it will last long. I definitely think you can give Bubba a break until bedtime, though. That's around +4 usually, right?

Nice job today. Your instincts were right on regarding what to feed when.

I will grab a test at+4 and if he is holding, call it a day. Momma bean needs a shot of Jack Daniels!

We were so lost before we found out that his nadir is at the end of the cycle. Slowly and surely we are getting there. Rupert is doing better on Levemir also.

My sentiments exactly, Bobbie. Very nice work. You really do have good instincts with Bubba.

Like Libby, I don't think this bounce will last long at all.
Good things happening here... lots of progress being made. :D
Thanks Ladies! Just got his +4 and he is at 245. Gave him a snack anyway... because he deserved it. Mama bean is going to bed and we shall see what the little pirate does tomorrow. Enjoy your daughter and grandson. :bighug:
