I'm hoping for that! I just didn't expect a bounce from mid 100's, I thought he was used to those levels by now.It looks to me like he bounced from the blue numbers yesterday.

Within 6 hours of the first dose, Pimp's glucose skyrocketed. They are tablets and shouldn't have sugar in them. I have read that antibiotics affecting gut flora can wreak havoc on glucose levels in humans (no information found for cats).
If only our kitties would read the rule book on what they are supposed to do, it would make our lives so much easier....Skooter still refuses to read it....I just didn't expect a bounce from mid 100's, I thought he was used to those levels by now.

Not basing anything on one number. Something drove him up, I'm a why person, just trying to figure out the cause. If it's a bounce, it's a bounce, if it's from infection, then so-be-it...just asking opinions and input on the unexpected crazy numbers. I know I can't necessarily control it but that doesn't stop me from being curious to the cause, if there is one.I think this may have been discussed in your condo from yesterday, but I would be a bit hesitant to draw the conclusion the two are related based on one reading....we are mostly looking for trends and looking at the big picture...even if the trend is higher readings, it still may not be related to the antibiotic, but possibly the infection itself...
I was a why person in the beginning....and then it ended up driving me crazy because I found more often than not that the answer was, "Cuz he is a cat", lololol...I'm a why person,
You're good, KarenHope Pimp puts his blue jeans back on today. Sorry if I harped on the AB yesterday and hope you weren't offended. I need to keep my mouth shut and hope he feels better. The fortiflora is to help with appy stimulation and keep the "gut" inline while on the AB so as long as he's eating it should be fine.
Thanks for the Christmas wishes MichelleYou have to feed it however a couple of hours after the AB's as the active bacteria in it will be destroyed by the AB's, so don't give them at the same time. With Mannie, it was a treat a couple of times during the cycle, 4+ hours after the AB's.
Thanks Carla, Merry Christmas!I hope Pimp comes back down soon and the AB clears up the infection.
High white blood cell count, indicates infection or parasite of some type, non specific.Hoping Pimp throws you better numbers the rest of the cycle. Just curious: Why does the vet think he has an unknown bacterial infection? ( I am a "why" person too)
If you're so inclined, The Merk Veterinary Manual is online. (See my signature link Notes to share). There's lots of good info in there, though you may need a medical dictionary. I find it helpful in preparing for a vet visit, as being well informed about feline health may help the vet to trust what you're doing with the diabetes, or any other chronic or acute conditions.
Thanks Gill. I'm not sure if we caught it just coming on or what, he hasn't acted like anything's wrong, and the vet said he "looked" good on Tuesday. I don't know if his BG's are related to the infection or just a bounce.Hey Andy, sorry to hear that Pimp has an infection, I hope the AB start doing there job and Pimps BG come downsoon.
Hi Andy - Morry christmas too you! I don't think it matters which some first... For us it was AB's, and a few hours after that the probiotics, followed by more a few hours after that. It was just the way it worked best for us, when I was home etc. it just seemed logical for me to do it that way. Thanks for the Christmas wishes MichelleRight back at ya
I know probiotics shouldn't go down at the same time as AB's, does it matter which goes first? Or do they just need to be a few hours apart?
