Good start for Doodles as long as he continues to go down and doesn't spike 100 pts from eating. We finished his first batch of home cooked food. I added a lg tsp to his FF and he did eat it with the typical Fortiflora and crumbled freeze dried treats. All good with the P's today even a normal morning poo :) Exciting day of laundry and cleaning today!

Vines for Suzi's mom and that Snickers settles in for a bit. Hope all the kitties are feeling good today.

A big Woot Woot for the Poop Poop!! (Funny the things we celebrate eh?! I can relate! heehee)

OH! I should clarify! Lebowski, not me . . aaaah never mind . . . LOL :p

I think you should really consider serving the food on a fancy plate and decorate with some parsley (or, really, catnip). Sounds like Doodles is getting a home cooked four-course meal. Don't let my cats hear that that's an option;)

Is it bad that I get hungry reading what others feed their furbabies??? ;)

Glad Doodles seems to be taking to the new-ish food routine. I hope it works out for you!

Good luck with the new dose. I hope the home cooking works. I'd do it as well but with kidney disease now, I think it would be hard to do. Did you gave a nutritionist give you the recipe?

I took the recipe off of ibdkitties.net . His morning poo was normal but he went again a few hours later and it was a bit soft. So confused :(

Gave 3/4 can FF Turkey @ +4 and he projectile vomited. Gave sm tbsp. YA 30 min after and he kept it down. Back to a modified SLGS and no home cooked food for a bit.

He's not a puker so when he does it's very harsh. We'll try again in a week or so and think I'm done crying like a little baby for now. Great news is he's working the doscrease today!

Awww I'm sorry you got that puke. Don't be discouraged! Slow and steady will win this race (((hugs)))

Come on, Doodles, you can do this.

Snick is not a puker, either, so when she does I take notice.

Vomiting yellow fluid at @ +6.5, tested and he was 49! Dabbed a little honey on his tongue and he's eating some MC food....UGH, Doodles!

How is he acting now that his numbers are up? Good job handling the low numbers by the way.

Sorry to hear about the pukus. With an IBD boy here, I can so relate. :(

Well, he just had a bout of diarrhea! Going to check again now to make sure he didn't drop. He wouldn't lick the gravy so I put a little honey on my finger and put it in his mouth then he ate about 3 tsp of the MC Food.

He won't eat anything...do I wait 30 min and if he drops again then put kyro/honey in his mouth? I do have EVO Dry I could try

Don't think he would've dropped so far if he didn't vomit his +4 meal....testing again in 15 minutes. If dropped again then he'll get some more honey in the mouth.

I question if he would've dropped that low if he didn't vomit his +4 meal. He'll probably bounce so can I give him 2.5 units at PMPS? Should we hold the dose or drop it back to 2.25 in the morning?

We're shooting at PMPS unless he doesn't eat then I'll have to give him 1/2 a dose but also have time to stall if needed. Can I do the 2.5 tonight and should we reduce to 2.25 in the morning or stay with 2.5?

i think I'd err on the side of caution and drop back to 2.25 and see how he goes.

I would try a little home cooked food again tomorrow too, It may not be what caused the vomit.

ETA what hypo symptoms did he have? I see it in your subject line but I cant see it on your spreadsheet. It would be very unusual for a cat to be symptomatic at that level.

Nice job handling the numbers btw :)

After the projectile food vomit @ +4 .....@ + 5 & 6.5 he vomited yellow fluid. I thought it was left over tummy ache until I tested him @ +6.5 and we got the 49.

2.25 tonight or tomorrow morning? He's going to bounce so wondering if I should shoot 1 more time at the 2.5.

We're not seeing signs of bounce just yet, unless he really springs up into the pinks I would reduce tonight. Don't forget part of a kitty's job description is to change up their patterns just when you think you have them figured out ;)

Isn't that the truth....kitties are not to be trusted so we'll reduce tonight. Thanks for the help and fingers crossed he eats.

Not an expert on dosing, but I would err on the side of caution and reduce tonight. But that's also coming from a person who shot the regular dose last night and ended up spending an entire night testing, feeding and worrying about Mandarin.

We're having a pajama party tonight....shooting 2.25 @ that 58:nailbiting::nailbiting: I chickened out the last green preshot gife we got so we're doing it.

He didn't eat as much as I'd like but that was to be expected with the late afternoon eating. Will get a +1 +2 etc....as needed. Have all hypo gear if needed.

Don't forget the chocolate! And maybe coffee. Important items in any hypo kit! Sure seems like you could be having a pj party. What do you think, Doodles?

Karen - you more than earned these tonight! Good job talking yourself into shooting that 58! :D:eek:

I'm very proud of him. I didn't really panic with the low today but the vomiting had me pretty upset. All good now just watching him sleep in his box. Going to get a +3 and as long as he goes up I'll then space it out 2 hours. :D:D:D

with the vomiting, he may need more frequent small meals.....
especially in the wider gap at night.... empty tummies make for more acid....

does he get anything like pepcid ac?

Good idea. He hasn't vomited like this since July when he hypo'd on vetsulin before we were hometesting :banghead::banghead: . I do have Prilosec that the IM Vet recommended but only use it as needed. We also utilize Slippery Elm Bark as needed. I'm going to try feeding him more often but we do have "food" issues with him which makes it tough. The only thing that really changed was putting the home cooked food in his meals...last night, this morning and the +4. He's super sensitive to food changes so going easy now for a few days.

No good on the lc FF...he won't go near it. Did eat a little under 1 tbsp. YAZC. I wish the Natural Balance Venison & Green Pea wasn't 12% carbs! I've been searching for the NV Grain Free Venison and since I live in a ho dunk town it has been impossible. So we'll order the case on-line as I see issues with the wet food again. :banghead::banghead: Been trying non stop since May to get him off the dry but he has to eat so YAZC to the rescue.

What a gorgeous surf he has going, he can be the new poster boy for shooting low :D

Have you tried mixing the 12% he likes with other much lower carb foods. You can keep the total carbs under 10% that way and maybe he'll develop a taste for something else.

Hope you're having a cat nap :)
