Snickers had been the same way lately. And she has a few rough days ahead with a skipped dose tues morning.

Come on down , Mocha....the blues and greens are where you want to be.

I think this is a new bounce from the 152 late night of the 20th. That's 2 days ago, so she could possibly remain high til late tomorrow night.

With SLGS you have to hold the dose a week, even if you can see that it's not getting the cat into normal numbers.

Thanks. The low of 152 may indeed be what is going on. I hope she gets in the elevator and presses the down key again! Would like to see a reduction for 3 weeks in a row.

I keep thinking about this - while this is a suggestion on the SLGS sticky, these guidelines are meant as a starting place, not as hard and fast rules. You can decide to increase the dose because of her numbers. You test enough for Tight Reg, and she's not eating dry food regularly, so if you want to switch to the guidelines for Tight Reg you could. That would allow you to call this a failed reduction and go back up in dose at whatever point you want, without waiting an entire week.

You test so much that it's pretty clear what's going on with her blood sugar, so if you want to be more aggressive than the SLGS suggests, I think it would be ok. My opinion only. It's up to you.

I wouldn't worry so much about that - your goal is to get her blood sugar controlled. Then the pancreas can heal in if it's possible to do so, and it also protects the body from the damage of high blood sugar. Having a high dose cat, people often told me that the most important numbers are the blood sugar, not the size of the dose. I've remembered that - it's very true.

by the way, I love how you've bolded the numbers in the spreadsheet. Makes it SO easy to see!

I just hope for her to go to remission if possible. But, overall health is absolutely most important. Insulin has given her a life back that I did not know she would get again.

Glad the bold helps. I am over 40 and I was straining to see them. Probably using the enlargement eyeglasses for all the testing and the insulin is changing my vision. :woot:

DOSE ADVICE?

Please advise if you see this latest reduction as a fail? Should I immediately adjust the am shoot?

I am not so sure it is a fail. When I look at the prior reduction to 3.75 took her til the end of the 6th day (w/ one fur shot earlier) to get her FIRST GREE PRESHOT. I am inclined to let her have 4 more days because of the furshot setback on the counting.

I am packing up the house to move so I can't visually be observing her as much as otherwise. In a few weeks or less the house will be all boxed but necessities. At that point, I feel safer to see what is happening more often [if/when the dose does need to increase and hypo becomes a concern].

What is the general opinion?

I think that drop from 341 to 215 triggered a bounce. Let's see what this morning's cycle looks like. I suspect that you will need to increase the dose since it's the 7th cycle since your freshet.

For the majority of cats, it takes 3 days/6 cycles for a bounce to clear. As a cat's body gets used to lower numbers, it often takes less time but that's not always the case. There are some cats who take longer to clear bounces.
