I've been MIA lately, but overall okay. I'm kind of at a loss with Scout and his diabetes- it's very frustrating to lose/not be making any progress recently.
about Scout(currently):
-he's around/just under 14 lbs
-eating meals 2x daily (1 1/4 cans FF each meal, 2 1/2 cans daily) watered down with distilled water
-occasional "mini meal" or "snack" of watered down freeze dried chicken or beef liver (tried doing these 2x daily between each wet food meal because his hunger was out of control, but didn't see a difference in his #s)
-been checking for ketones occasionally,always come back less than trace
-indoor only
-regular play and exercise
-gets flea meds every month
besides being overly hungry and begging for food, he has seemed normal. no excessive peeing or anything, but his hunger has been crazy lately- he went nuts and ripped the drain out of the sink trying to find food. we've had to lock up and hide all food/scraps/leftovers because he would find his way into anything edible. it's a huge pain in the ass. i've caught him licking the inside of the kitchen sink, he's tried to get into the microwave. he knows how to open the toaster oven and cabinets. we have to do all our dishes and clean up the kitchen before we can even eat a meal because he knows how to open our doors by pulling down the handle so we can't lock him in another room (we've tried). he sits at his food bowl and screams at me almost all day, starting a couple hours after a meal (he is a siamese, so when i say he sits there and screams i mean he sits there and SCREAMS). he wakes me up at night begging for food, and he also wakes me up very early in the morning.
also, i have noticed that if i don't give him the freeze dried "mini meal" he will vomit up clear-ish bile, kind of like a hairless hairball. from what i've found on google it's because his stomach is too empty? so should i be increasing amount of food in his meals?
i am very confused about his numbers. i don't know if he is bouncing or if he needs more insulin. he seems to go high and flat. my boyfriend suggested quitting insulin cold turkey, but i don't know if that's an option because i don't want Scout's body to go into shock. i've tried reducing and increasing, but i can't figure out his cycle.
i'm trying to get a curve in today(every 2 hours or so), i know I've been really bad at checking midday recently. any advice would be appreciated because i really don't know what else i'm supposed to do!
oh and this morning i noticed a scab/blood on the back of his head. i'm not sure if this is putting him in distress or playing into his # being high, but it looks very fresh. i was slightly confused about the location, but i think its from him scratching himself with his hind legs (took me a while to realize he could reach that part of his head haha) i will attach a picture.
