Update: Brandy is a 7 year old cat I adopted from the Humane Society around June. I took her because she looked so sad in her photo and I thought no one would want her because most want a kitten. I found out a few days in that she is diabetic (yaaaay lol)
Well, it's still a challenge for us with our schedules,$$ etc., but I'm happy to report that Brandy is doing much much better lately! She plays with our kitten and the other cats! She is 7! and the difference in her is incredible! I thought that she wasn't strong enough to jump up to the other cat's food because she's overweight (though I do know about neuropathy), but I guess it was the diabetes. (That does present a new problem-she can now reach their dry food. we can't manage to feed all of them only canned)
Anyway, she is so much more lively. She is so happy! It is really nice to see. She fell asleep purring in my lap last night in my blanket, like she always does. She rubs all over my leg lately when I come home (that is new) She sleeps by my feet or my pillow every night.
She acts like she really loves us, especially me. She loves my husband too though. She follows me around sometimes. She plays with the toys and is so much more energetic. The only symptom remaining (I think. I work) is the urine amount, though that has decreased A LOT from what I've seen.
Her numbers lately are mainly in the blue and a few green! She is on 2 units of prozinc. I have been scared to increase it to bring her lower. She is doing very well though! Brandy is a sweet girl. I don't know how her other owners left her after 7 years. Maybe they knew. Maybe they couldn't afford it. I don't know. I guess I can't judge and I definitely understand the struggle, but what I do know is she is sweet and we love her. I am so happy she is feeling a lot better!!
Thanks for all of the info here!
