Another dose reduction?

Well, after bouncing all day, Frankie decides to do a dive at night and ended up at 2.5 (45) just +5 after his pm shot. I gave him some HC food and half an hour later was 7.2 (129.6). Will keep checking him through the night, but that's another dose reduction isn't it?

They do seem to not be quite so high and long now. Maybe he's getting used to normal numbers!!
Hi Sue,

Well done for handling that low number.
Was Frankie OK at that 2.5..?
That number was probably well and truly in hypo territory (on Alphatrak), so don't be surprised if you do see a big bounce from this one.

Actually, I did a 'double take' when I looked at your spreadsheet this morning, because those numbers reminded me of Bertie's when he had his first ever hypo. I shot on a falling number at 11.2 and two hours later he was 2.6 (on a human meter). He was dropping fast, though looked normal. But in the time it took me to run downstairs and get glucose everything had changed, and I came back to a very symptomatic cat... (I keep the glucose with the test kit these days as my knees aren't so good at running up the stairs. )

It does look to me as though Frankie's situation is improving: Blue numbers three days in a row, plus some greens, the bounces do seem to be clearing faster, and the dose is being reduced. Keeping fingers and paws crossed that this positive change continues and increases. You've been working very hard on this. :bighug:

Hi there

Excellent catch on that 45:eek:!
Good job 'shooting through the bounce' as Sienne suggested.

Many kitties run lower on the overnights.
I've seen many caregivers over the years initially resist testing on the overnights and then scratch their head when kitty throws a red or black AMPS. They come to the conclusion an increase is needed when in reality (unknown to the caregiver) kitty earned a reduction that was missed due to lack of an overnight spot-check.

Well done.
I hope you are taking advantage of the bounce (we used to refer to bounces as 'save-a-strip' cycles) - Frankies ears can get a break and so can you!

Thanks @Elizabeth and Bertie and @Sandy and Black Kitty. It was quite a shock when I saw that number last night. He was fine luckily. No symptoms. All purry and snuggly still. I have his food upstairs as he can't do the stairs now, so I could get HC food to him in seconds. He loves it and it disappeared even quicker than I put it down. Didn't need to wash the bowl after it was that clean!!! Lol. I am getting a bit obsessed with testing. I need to cut it back but the weekends are the only chance I get for daytime data gathering, but I must give his ears a break. His bounce this morning seems to be levelling out, so I will resist the urge until tonight. Thanks for keep checking in on him. It means a lot.
