Hi Marie - interesting news from your vet. Some heart murmurs come and go so it's good to keep checking it, but good news it's not there now.

your yesterday's condo, I posted the SLGS description of remission.
Princess was almost ready to try an OTJ trial by the SLGS method, but not quite. Normally we would have them either earn one more reduction from the 0.25u dose or go a week in normal numbers. Since you are going to try going without insulin, I strongly recommend that you continue testing her twice a day, in the morning and evening for two weeks. Feeding several small meals throughout the day will also be easier on her newly healing pancreas. If by any chance her numbers start to creep up out of the normal range, then you may have to start her back on the smallest dose of insulin. Post here for advice should that happen. We find that the longer a kitty can safely stay on insulin, the stronger the remission. Approximately 25-30% of diabetic cats in remission have to go back on insulin - we want to prevent that for Princess. Good luck!
