Sammy was a real stinker last night, he would not eat anything I put in front of him. I have been feeding him the same two types of food since we switched to the MiniMeals and there have only been a few times where he turned his nose up at the food, and that was probably mostly due to the food being old, having been left in the refrigerator a bit too long. Last night I opened 8 cans of food before I finally found one that he would eat. It was a good thing I had a variety of LC food on hand, and I even resorted to an 8% food which I really hated doing, but I only gave him about a teaspoon of that.
He finally decided that the only thing he would eat was the 9Lives Flaked Tuna and Cheese (3%), but I didn't give him the cheese bits. I thought that once he got eating he would easily return to the other food again, which is what he has done before, but that was not the cast last night. At each snack time he would only eat the 9Lives. I tried mixing in the other food and he did eventually eat that also, but it was a struggle.
When I did his +4.5 I did give him famotidine and thought that by +9 snack time he would be better, but he still really only wanted the 9Lives. I still gave him some Wellness Turkey along with it and he did eat it. I also gave him a slightly larger snack at +9 because he has consistently woken me up before AMPS every morning.
This morning I got to sleep right up to the AMPS alarm. This morning his appetite seems to have returned to normal, but he is still on the 9Lives kick. I gave him 1 teaspoon of the 9Lives and 1 teaspoon of Wellness Turkey and he gobbled it right down before I even had a chance to fill the syringe, so I have him another teaspoon of each before giving the shot.
He is now cuddling with me while I try to type this post over top of him. I really don't know what was up with him yesterday, maybe those higher numbers were making him feel really crummy.
We will see what today brings. As I suspected He did a nice slow drop last night, and seemed to stay steady from +9 right through AMPS. I don't know if he went a bit lower or higher last night because I didn't get up to check after +9, and it was nice not to have to get up multiple times during the night. I felt he was safe from +4.5 to +9 so I gave myself a pass to sleep through. If history repeats itself we could be in for a wild ride at some point in the next couple of cycles.
Hope everyone has a fantastic day.
