All is well here in TrixieVille....appy has been absolutely stellar (HUGE anti-jinx), snuggles galore, bright eyes, soft shiny fur :cat:. The gelcap went down on the first try last night:). This morning, she was armed-n-ready, though....but I managed to get it down before all h*** broke lose. She did swat on my final attempt, but fortunately I was quicker than she was - THIS time :joyful:!!

I do wonder what sort of infection she's had that the Zeniquin is working so well on. Even though nothing shows up in her urine and her WBC count has been normal, those ABs are definitely correcting something. I just wish I knew what - and I hope this course will be long enough to make the "fix" permanent, since it is definitely a mystery. We have 5 days left - total run of 15 days.

And I find it so hard to believe that her kidneys are as bad as they are, given how she behaves. Her values improved after the last course of ABs, but that test was 10 days after stopping...if going to the vetty didn't cause her to backslide, I would take her before ending this course, just for comparison. But that's not an option....can't make her sick just because I'm curious. So I'm just going to make myself enjoy HER, and forget those stupid numbers...just wish I never knew them! Just thinking out loud here....

We've had some nice "PS" values the last few days. I don't know if that is also connected to the ABs, or if it's because maybe she's actually eating the fuds I leave out! She IS eating a bit more without me holding the plate these days, so maybe she's taking the initiative when I'm not around. Someone always eats the food, but I never know for sure who it is.

I'm off today...housework and kitty snuggles. I've been dilly-dallying all morning, so it's time to get moving - although that's hard to do with Trix on my lap!

Have a great day, L&LL!

Amy

I'm glad you have your priorities straight, kitteh snuggles! Marje mentioned to me that Gus would get kidney infection rather than UTI and often it wouldn't show up on the C&S. I'm going to get Tess checked w/ an ultra sound, which is what Marje said showed the infection for Gus. We may need to try a different AB if it is positive and try to knock it out once and for all. Great that the Zeniquin is working so well for Trixie.

I had asked my vetty about US to check for kidney infection. She says the are very hard to detect, and often if a kitty has other stuff going on - like CKD - it's hard to distinguish between the CKD and an infection. She actually felt for Trix that it wouldn't show us anything "useful" and didn't recommend it, although I know she would do one if I asked her to. Zeniquin is supposed to be a good AB for kidney infections, so I do wonder if that's what's going on. She never had any symptoms, though, other than being off...so we don't really know if it's a kidney infection, p-titis (my vet also no longer uses the p-titis tests. She used to, but felt she got too many conflicting/inconsistent results from them), or some other mystery. Since I'm one who likes solid answers, it IS tricky...but I am trying to remember the big picture - that Trix is feeling good!!

Snuggles are where it is at! I'm glad the ABs are working. There is definitely something going on but at least you are on the right track to fix it. Have a wonderful day Amy!!

Glad the ABs are working and wonderful that Trixie seems to be feeling so well. I say forget the housework, enjoy the snuggles!!

Hi Amy, I'm very happy to read that Trix is doing so well. I hope the antibiotic keeps on attacking whatever bacteris it is working on,

Have a great evening. Are you enjouying this spring-like weather? Dumb question, but you knew I had to ask!

You're becoming quite the Quick-Draw-McGraw with those gel caps! :p Glad she's doing so well and eating well...and eating well, on her own! :woot::woot: Hope you had a great day off...you deserve it!
