Hi all and happy new year. I started my girl on Zobaline way back in the beginning when she did in fact show signs of neuropathy.
She’s been on it for years and I’m wondering if it is safe long term or even necessary anymore. Any advice appreciated
Anyone else give this long term ?

It won't hurt to keep her on it the rest of her life. It's a water-soluble vitamin so any the body doesn't need just gets peed out.

I know the Zobaline has gotten pretty pricey though. You might want to try a different Methyl B-12. These Methyl B-12 capsules are 5000mcg (Zobaline is 3000mcg) and you can just open and pour the contents into food. There are 240 capsules so for $20'ish, you get 8 months worth.

I don't disagree with Chris. One alternative may be to get a B12 level the next time you have Little in for a check up.

Just out of curiosity, you do know that Lev is being discontinued in the US, don't you?

I see these capsules also have magnesium stearate and something else in them. Are we sure this is ok for kitty’s?

Thanks for the methyl link. Should I only use half each day to keep closer to the 3000? Also I notice there is no folate in this one. Does that affect anything?

It's not necessary. Since it's a water soluble vitamin, any the body doesn't use just gets peed out.

We have a lot of people in the Facebook group who use the one I linked above and it seems to work just fine without the folate, but you can also buy folate OTC if you want to add it along with the Methyl B-12.

Also FYI on Levemir. I spoke to my contact at Marks and what he is saying is that the “pen” is discontinued but the refill cartridges are still available and are going to be. He does not expect those to be disco. The cartridges come with a different type of “pen” and are changed out as one goes empty. I hope that info is correct …. Tresiba scares me

Levemir cartridges are like little mini vials - except you get insulin out of them like you do the pen. They are also called pen refills. So like a pen, but without all the extra plastic surrounding it. There's a picture of a cartridge in this post. The picture is a Lantus cartridge, but the only difference is the colour.

Yes. Thanks Wendy. According to Marks these cartridges ante not slated for disco in Canada.
