So a while back I got sent a sample of the YA zero food and of course my cat loved it. I was giving her a handful of pieces per meal as instructed by them to start out and then ordered a larger bag. However after 4-5 days of that I noticed her BG was going up a bit after it had been going down after eliminating HC dry food. So I stopped giving the YA food and after 3 days or so, her numbers came back down. Obviously based on that, I thought it must be the food. After contacting YA, Michael the owner called me, he basically said it wasn't the food but likely my cat eating more calories causing the BG rise. I'm a little skeptical of that since it was like 7-8 pieces per meal I was giving her but this food is higher calories so it's possible I suppose. But has anyone else experience their cat have BG issues on this food?
I also started reading about this food not agreeing with their cats stomach and getting bad diarrhea. I know YA specifically says this is a possibility but to keep giving it to them and it'll get better. But I've ready some peoples cats. they never got better after weeks until stopping the YA food. Anyone have recent experience with this? This alone makes me nervous as a couple months ago, my cat had on and off diarrhea for weeks and finally was so sick she stopped eating for days. Still not exactly sure the cause but diarrhea was the most common symptom. Since then, she hasn't had any digestive issues (knock on wood) so I obviously don't want that to happen again.
The reason I even considered this food was because I was trying to find foods that were more calorie dense so she didn't have to eat so much so quickly or to maybe supplement the YA with wet food for more calories. She likes wet food but doesn't love it so she's picky and eats slow and sometimes doesn't finish all her food. I know she loves dry food but just not sure about this food.
