Hello All,
I'm currently having a hard time finding a dry food for my 15 y/o cat in remission that he likes. He has been in remission since Jan. '22. He was diagnosed in Dec. '21. Thankfully, I was able to get him into remission thanks to Vetsulin and a change in dry food. He was free fed with Meow Mix dry food, which probably made him a diabetic in the first place. After he was diagnosed, I added Fancy Feast Pate wet food and changed his dry food to Young Again Zero Mature Health. He now all of the sudden wants no part of the dry food. I was giving him 3 cans of Fancy Feast Pate's a day and letting him graze on the Young Again dry food. Like I said, now he wants no part of it and I'm finding I have to give him more cans of Fancy Feast, because my poor old boy is hungry. I'm worried he's not eating enough and his numbers are going to drop even more. That may sound silly but that's where my brain goes. His numbers are usually in the low 80's.

Is this happening to anyone else's cat that eats Young Again Zero? I have noticed my last two auto shipments, the food looked different. The last shipment, the food looked lighter in color and was "crumby" looking, if that makes sense. The most recent auto shipment is darker in color and looks like it has a waxy coating on it.

Any thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks so much in advance!

If your cat is in remission, there's no issue with his numbers dropping too low since you're not giving insulin. Many nondiabetic cats will have numbers in the 40 - 60 range.

My cats all eat a canned food only diet. It has never been an issue. If you are feeding your cat the same amount of calories, the type of food won't make a difference. If he doesn't want dry food, good for him!! The canned food is better given that cats do not have a huge thirst drive and they will get more moisture in the canned food than dry.

Sorry i saw your post so late.my fella was loving YA mature zero LID, then all of a sudden wanted no part of it. This could have been part of his nausea/ pancreatitis pattern, but wanted to let you know that i did have the same situation. Sienne seemed to give good advice above however! Good luck
