sorry guys...i have been lacking on the spread sheet but the last minth has not been good...tried to get on my ss but it wont let me....elvis bg has been down..i have been checkinf as often as i can ...the diet is helping...for the last month the highest bg was 37- to 390..before eating..we give him 2 5.5 oz. cans of 9 niles 2x daily and i found lo card dry food (EVO) which i leave out to "snack"on all note and day...so yesterday evlis did not eat at all...his bg was at 230 - 250 we did give him his med and sugar came down to 90-100..but he did not eat...woke up 5 am checked bg 225 but out tuna and 9 lives he wont eat..he is drinking. i called the vet last week about the different insulin but she was on vacation....i am going to give him his 2 units at 6 am i tried to get his pee to check for keytones he will not let me near him in the litter box...the urine has a very stong amonnna smell...dont know what to do..thanks

Before you change his insulin dose to 2 units, what dose are you on currently? While I don't know the details of the insulin you are using - N, I do know that you want to be conservative with dose changes.

Additionally, if he is eating the wet food, is there any need to keep feeding him dry food? While yes, you bought expensive dry food and it's supposedly a higher quality, the fact is, it is still dry food and ALL dry food is bad for cats.

Now if you are concerned about how to leave wet food out 24/7, I can help with that. It's actually very easy:

Just add extra water to the food - for example for a 5 ounce can - I will add 1/2 can of water to the food. For a 3 ounce can, I will add an entire can of water to the food and mix it up.

Also, you can take that formula and freeze it. Once frozen, you can serve as normal and it will take a few hours to thaw and be ready for cat to eat. So, if he eats all his regular food up and there is nothing left for later, using the frozen method, will ensure there is fresh food available later on.

You may also want to get a timed feeder - there are several available and this will allow you to put the food in there, set the timers and it will automatically at the set times - again allowing for 24/7 food for cat.

we only leave a liitle of the dry food out at nite cause he was very hungary...his mian diet is wet food...but my concern is he has not eaten since friday nite...when we brought him home from the vet over a month ago this is what i gave him to get him to start eatting again. like i said we were having no problem for the past month...nothing has changed and i'm sorry it is ot on the ss for everyone to see...
 
I'm sorry that Elvis is not eating. My Tinkles always eats, I can't imagine how stressful it is to have them not eat and have to give insulin. I know other people have had trouble with kitties not eating, hopefully someone with experience will reply soon for you. I will search for info and come back and post what I find....

I'm concerned about his lack of appetite -- can you get him in to the vet this morning for a blood test and urine test?
 
As Jess (she's a vet tech) says, it would be best to take him to the vet.

It is important that he eat, but if he is in pain, nothing may help. You can try these ideas (but the vet would be best): warm up the food in the mircrowave, put parmesan cheese on top, feed him by hand ( a dollop on your finger). Is there any forbidden foods he likes to eat?
 
Yes, please get him to a vet. From what I understand, not eating can bring on ketones faster than usual (they need food AND insulin to keep them away). & because you can't check his urine.. please get him to a vet that can check these things. It can turn bad quickly if he's not eating. :sad:
