Hello,

I took Wiggle Worm's sugar this morning and six hours later. The numbers still stay in the 200's even after the insulin. He eats very good. He in drinking a lot of water and urinating large amounts. And his urine has a very strong odor. Am I doing anything wrong?

I am not an expert at all, but I think your numbers are looking pretty good for just starting
I have not heard of strong smelling urine, hopefully so meone will weigh in on that
I am sorry but I cant recommend any dosage as I am still trying to figure mine out
but you are looking good!

Not doing a thing wrong; doing lots of things right. Patience, patience. Not much movement, but nice safe numbers. I would get a +9 to see if he is going to surf awhile or maybe have a late nadir. If you think of this time early on as data gathering, and not get too involved in the individual numbers, it makes it easier to see the big picture.

Strong urine smell when he goes or an ammonia smell coming from the litter? If strong odor when he goes, I think I would consider a vet visit to rule out a urinary tract infection. If ammonia smell from litter, maybe change it more often. In this beginning period, when they are going so often, it can get overwhelming fast.

I don't have any advice, just that I want to add that my kitty's urine has a bad smell also. It's horrendous!
I don't use "litter", I have a special box that allows the urine to pass through the "litter" and into a reservoir that I can empty in the toilet, and I empty it every
time she goes. It smells so bad, then as soon as I dump it in the toilet, it causes the bathroom to stink.
It is a STRONG odor. And sometimes a dark color. VERY darkish. Other times, almost clear. No matter the color, ALWAYS stinky!

Hmmm - totallybeachin have you had a sample checked at the vets? That doesn't sound right at all to me.

For Wiggle Worm's #s, what does anyone think of trying 1.25u, but lowering to 1u on PSs under maybe 220 or so, a mini-sliding scale? The 1u doesn't look like enough to me, but looks like it may be too much on lower PSs and then things are getting thrown off once there is some improvement, with PSs too low to shoot. I haven't been following along too closely though. If his symptoms are pronounced though, I think it's probably time for a dose increase?

Henry's urine had a strong odor when he had an undiagnosed UTI when he was first diagnosed with diabetes.
I think if the urine has traces of blood in it from the infection it will make it smell strong.
And if it is very concentrated it will smell stronger also.
