Why is his BG going up?

Spreadsheet updated. His BG numbers seem to be on an upward trend. I finally finally have uninterrupted time at home today to take a BG reading every 3 hrs until I go to bed. It feels like the increased insulin isn't doing anything, but hopefully the curve today will elucidate things.

We did notice that we think the freeze-dried chicken treats may be increasing his BG and we switched back to the Pure Bites Fish despite the cost. I spoke to my partner and we agreed that the freeze-dried chicken treats were suspiciously cheap, and we don't trust them.

I wonder if some of this is just stress from going to the animal ER and further back having a pet sitter test his BG. He's really sensitive, and I wonder if he just needs things to feel normal for awhile.

It's been really hard on me emotionally seeing him backslide on all of his progress.
 
So they weren’t the Pure Bites chicken treats? Those are good quality chicken and I’ve never had problems with them. You can also buy some human chicken and boil it and cut into cubes for treats.

I just think it’s possible that we are not at the correct dose yet, but I can’t see what’s going on because there aren’t enough tests.
 
Thank you No, they were a brand I found on Amazon and the only listed ingredient was chicken, but I really think there was something off with them. They could have been just a really low-quality cut or something - I'm not sure.

I'm doing a curve today, and hopefully that gives us some more answers. We're doing it with both the ReliOn meter and the AlphaTrack. The vet only wants to see AlphaTrack #s.
 
What treatment do you use for the asthma? I am only asking because I have an asthmatic cat. So far we only are using oral steroids but I am not happy about it. She is not a diabetic. I want to try the inhaled medication, but we haven’t gotten that far yet.

Currently our treatment is using a really high quality air purifier. We live in an area with poor air quality and our building was undergoing construction. Since using the air purifier 24/7, Arthur has had zero asthma attacks!

Arthur has always had asthma attacks just rarely, but now we know it's asthma and actually an issue. The thing is they are so incredibly rare other than recently when he was flaring, that the vet doesn't believe it's worth treating as of yet. We are going to continue to monitor.
