I'm currently using BD 3/10 6mm 31G u-100 syringes with the 1/2 unit marking, u-100 syringes. I like the 1/2 unit markings but was wondering what other brand might have this.
I wish I could help but my favorite is no longer available. I just started one of my four boxes that I have left. If you do switch be prepared that all syringes to not have the same markings and can vary by as much as .25 or more of a unit. Hard to believe but true.
Where do you live? If it's in the US, a lot of us use WalMart's Relion syringes...they're $12.58 for a box of 100 and come with half unit markings (although some of their pharmacists don't realize that)
I use relion syringes from Walmart, which have half unit markings. Honestly, they're nothing to write home about. The good thing is that they're readily available. I'm not so sure we'll stick with them forever, though.
I live in the US. I had asked the pharmacist at Walmart and he showed me the syringes they had and none had the 1/2 unit marking. Would you please let me know the specs on the box so that I can ask for a specific syringe?
You want
U-100 (syringes designed for U-100 insulin)
3/10 cc (ie 3/10 mL)
short (8 mm, ie 5/19") or long needle
29, 30, or 31 gauge (higher number is thinner)
I believe all of the 3/10 WalMart syringes have half units.
There are several brands at ADW that have half unit markings. Click on the Home tab, in the lower right there is a shopping affiliates link. ADW is just under Walmart.
You can get 30 gauge (or 29 if they're really running low)...the smaller the number, the bigger the needle is, but there's not a LOT of difference that I've seen. I routinely have to get 30's because they're out of the 31's and China doesn't seem to notice the difference
