So should I feed my diabetic cat each time his number starts to go back up? These last few days have been hectic for me and getting his number into the lower 100s. This evening he went to 336 and he has never gone that high. I asked if he ate anything different and my lady said that he just slept and ate his wet food. He did eat a mixture of chop grill classic and turkey and giblets. I can't see why Chopped Grill classic from FF would cause him to spike. Turkey and Giblets has been helping to lower his numbers and so I do not know what is up with his pancreas anymore. I know I had to give him 1.5 units of insulin and his number has gone from 336 to 142 in about a 4 hour time. I didn't know if I should feed him each time his number starts to go back up or not?

Novalin only lasts 6-8 hours in most cats. If the tests you took were after +6, you were testing as the Novalin was wearing off, so of course those tests would be higher.

There is also a phenomenon called bouncing. When using insulin and the glucose drops to an unfamiliar level or drops very quickly, it can trigger compensatory hormones which release stored glycogen which then boosts the glucose level for several days.

I must have had that phenomenon then because for a while I didn't have to give him any insulin because if he would ever go to above 150 all I had to do was feed him and his glucose would drop significantly.
