When not to shoot?

Hi
Well after my earlier question today- we have been spot checking Trouble and his glucose levels have been lovely today.. at 10.5+ he is at 8.7. We will check him before we give the insulin shot- at 8:00 but if his levels don't rise too much is that ok?

He doesn't seem to have dropped below 7.4 yet, but wanting to be cautious Also don't want to throw him off a bit by skipping a dose if not needed.

Posting now- as not wanting to do it last minute. He is on 2u Lantus.. don't have syringes at the moment to take it to parts- so would have to go to 1u if we did decrease

An interesting thing about Lantus is that you can, with diligent testing, shoot low to stay low. What this means is that the amount of drop may actually get smaller as you shoot lower numbers. The sticky posts in the Lantus forum have a ton of info - you might want to re-read, these or read them for the first time if you've not had a chance.

Thanks @BJM will look those over again. He just tested 14.9, such a difference in 90 minutes- but perfect timing for him to get his insulin
